I’m pretty vocal that I believe business owners have the right to do whatever they want. I kinda figured that there was already a SCOTUS decision on refusing service based on religion, but I can’t really find one that pertains to this situation. (There are Abortion and Gay rulings based on religious beliefs, but not on refusing service based on another person’s religion… that I can find)

There are a lot of references to states having laws addressing this. Does anyone know if Tennessee has laws on refusing service based on religion?

Business owners "should" be able to do a lot of things but they can't. Openly discriminate against anyone and there will be repercussions. It's the way it is and it will never change. There are reams of laws against it.

People have lost all sense of discretion these days.

Exactly, with "openly" being the key word. As others have stated, plenty of private clubs discriminate against all manner of types of people. They just aren't obvious about it. All this chick wants is her 5 minutes, and she's gonna get it.

The business owner does not need to explain any reason other than because it is his/her business. Her mistake was she named a certain group of people instead of handling it in a case on case basis. ...............jmho

There are any number of ways she could have not served those individuals, but she didn't. She chose for the loudest, most attention grabbing, really least effective method; all the more reason I'm convinced this is a publicity stunt.

They didn't have to make a public statement.

All they had to do was open a small restaurant serving allot of bacon and sausage.  Really have the smoke and favor in the air.

Selling products like Silver bullet and having Wilbur the pot belly pig running around as a mascot.  Perhaps if they have some open range a small pig nursery farm.

I understand we have a shortage of young pigs to raise to make more bacon.  Just trying to combine that problem with this issue.

She can just end up making it "Members and approved guests only" and not open to the "public" ... Have in the terms she has the right to revoke membership for any reason... then she just doesn't approve the memberships of whoever she doesn't want, including Muslims.  If they don't like being asked if they're Muslim, then refuse their membership.  Its pretty easy to do what she wants to do within the law.

But i do agree with her that Islam is not a religion, but a theocracy, much of which is at odds with the Constitution.
