I like the front gas block... I think. Given a choice between this one and a PSA, I know how I would go.

I have no desire for a 223 or 5.56 rifle.  I've moved on.  But I will be getting one of these.

That's a shocker :). Everybody needs a 5.56, even if they have moved on

I just don't want to keep adding calibers.  It makes it much more difficult to buy ammo when you have to buy ammo for each gun and not for a group of guns.

However, I might get mine and leave it alone.  Or I might rebarrel to match other guns.  I dunno.  But I gotta have one.

And I love the gas block.  At least in photos.

I am the opposite, I hate those front sight gas blocks.  I would much rather go with  a folding BUIS rather than that fixed sight.  But since I always go with some type of optic, the front sight is pretty useless for me so would rather just have a flat top.  I honestly don't see the need or draw for another AR line, there are so many out there that I question its viability.  Maybe if this is your first AR, but if you have one already and have gone to builds then this is just another AR; nothing special.

MOST of my AR's have folding front sights. They ALL (except my A2) have optics, most with batteries. I won't have a rifle with electronic optics and no backup sights. I'm not a big fan of fixed front sights either. But, we ain't normal. Lots of folks buy an AR with irons, and that's as far as it goes. I built every one of my rifles. but I ain't normal :)

I understand. But, It's the most common caliber if you are gonna push spitzer bullets. .223 is cheap, and will usually do the job.

So if it will be $599 street price, as I read elsewhere, will the price drop on the S&W M&P 15 Sport since this is in the same price range, but with dust door and forward assist?
