So I have a 100% positive feedback on ebay. I just sold a item & paypal has a hold on the funds till the item has either recieved positive feedback or conformation of delivery. The person that bought it so called conformed paypal address doesnt list the state or zip code. Its just a street name & thats it. They are giving me the run around & want me to ship my item without the funds. This really pisses me off. Esp with ebays new policy thay sellers cannot leave negative feedback. So that gives buyers no reason to leave feedback at all. I ship everything withen 24 hrs & I kinda got the feeling im getting scammed & theres nothing I can do about it. This is BS. What should I do? Ship the item & hope paypal does the right thing or tell them to kiss my arse & refund mr no state his money? Sorry for venting but im drinking Sailor Jerry Rum & im pissed over this.

Stop using paypal. I canceled my account when I found out I couldnt pay for firearm related purchases with it.

You can buy anything but a gun itself with PayPal.

But, back to Eye's issue:

how much is the transaction FOR?

I'm assuming you do quite a bit of eBay as seller?

And I didn't understand the address problem -- you say the address IS confirmed? But incorrect?

the Total is 84.00. I do a little selling not a whole lot. I now have 2 items both right around the 90.00 they are holding funds for. 21 days or untill buyer leaves positive feedback bit as you know buyers aren't required to leave feedback at all and my feedback is 100% now.

So how many names of people who have had their accounts locked for buying/selling gun *related* items do you want me to send you?

That may be what they say, but the fact is I have seen them lock accounts for gun accessories and ammo.

Oh okay, I gotcha.

Well, that is in the PayPal TOS.

It depends on several factors, like time you've been with PP, how much you've run through it, how many verified buyers you've paid/have paid you, for certain categories of transactions, I forget what all.

Pretty simple solution to this one, just send with Delivery Confirmation that can be checked online. Free for online USPS Priority, for example. Or completely cover yer butt and send with sig required.

At any rate, they aren't discriminating against YOU.

Can only say that I've run probably about $100K through PayPal since it began (mostly as seller), and have had exactly 1 problem, a minor one where I got my money back as buyer.

Sorry, my answer was incomplete and actually, just wrong!

Below is the exact PayPal policy re firearms related items.

I have bought various firearms related stuff (mag carriers, grips, etc) on eBay and several holsters off eBay using PayPal, but these were not prohibited items.

So yes, certain gun parts and all ammo are verboten.

---------------

help_q.gif What types of firearms related items does PayPal prohibit?

Question : Answer : help_a.gif PayPal prohibits all account holders from buying or selling any type of firearm and certain firearm parts and ammunition. PayPal may allow certain U.S. merchants to sell items addressed by this policy if they have been approved by PayPal and can ensure transactions and shipments comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Firearms – Include all rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they are intended for use in sporting, as collectibles, or as curio and relic firearms. These items are prohibited regardless of their present working order.

Firearm parts - Include, but are not limited to, receivers and frames, silencers, kits designed to convert a firearm to automatic firing capability, high capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers.

Ammunition - Includes ammunition with propellant, such as gunpowder or blank ammunition. Ammunition is defined as ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm.

Stun guns - For U.S. residents, PayPal allows transactions for stun guns only if the transaction is permitted by law in both the buyer's and seller's jurisdictions. U.S. sellers must ensure that each transaction is legal in both locations before completing the sale. Transactions for stun guns involving account holders outside the U.S. are prohibited.

Other Related Items – PayPal allows transactions for paintball guns, blank guns, and air-soft guns as permitted by law in the applicable jurisdiction. These items must display all markings required by law, must not be convertible to shoot a lethal projectile, and must not include blank ammunition.

I know there not discriminating against me but I sold 3 of the exact same items about a month back with no issues at all. Money went straight in the account & I had access to it. I just now sold 2 more & they slap a hold on it. When I called to inquire about it I got some Hindu Lady with broken English & She wasnt much help/ All that did was add fuel to my buzzed up fire. I have shippped both items & updated the tracking info so we will see what happens. It just really hit me the wrong way I guess. Esp now since buyers dont really have a reason to leave feedback because regardless if they do us the seller wrong we cant leave anything negative in return.

Yep, eBay has really slanted things to favor the buyers. They had to, were losing buyers by the millions.

Anyway, I looked you up there (guess that's you with same name) and see that you haven't really sold much yet over your tenure there....I'll tell you my course: even back when I could leave a neg, assuming a buyer got in touch and paid in 2-3 days after auction, I would leave immediate feedback, as I believe that the buyer has then fulfilled his obligation.

It's worked out okay...have over 700 + FB, no negs.

Remember, there's always another day, another sale, and you can't let the rare UberAzzhole ruin your day...

As far as all you folks advocating NOT using PP, fine for you maybe, but if you seriously sell on the web, you only have two real choices: pay for your own credit card processing or use PayPal. Last time I looked at pricing, if you aren't doing at least 5 grand/month or so in sales, PayPal is by far a better deal.

Better grab the vasoline soon. Paypal likes to play the float on OPM-other people's money. They seized $400 of mine in January of last year, stating they would be holding it for 6 months as I had violated their terms of service. In short, I sold an 11 round Ruger 40 cal magazine on gunbroker and the guy paid via paypal. Nevermind that he'd already left me positive feedback, and that my rating was over 200 with all positives--no neutrals or negatives, on all venues, gunbroker, epay, and with paypal--they claimed they HAD to hold my money for any chargebacks that might arise.

I got my money in 48 hours by calling the department in Nashville that issues their license to act as a "money transferrer" in the state of TN, and letting them know I was doing that. (see https://www.paypal-media.com/state_licenses.cfm ) If you visit www.paypalsucks.com or any one of the numerous other websites dealing with these scum, you'll see it's a matter of when, not if, will they stick it to you. Their business, credit card transactions where no card is physically present, is rife with fraud. So they make up for fraud losses the American way--by sticking it to their honest customers!

I haven't used paypal since January 2007. I wouldn't do business with those low life rotten vermin scum ever again. Money orders work for me.

How does paypal know you are buying a gun unless its an auction, second who the heck are they to say what you can and cant buy with your money thats insane. I just opened an account and due to this thread Im going to cancel. I stopped using ebay and started helping out on an awesome new auction site that is small yet everyone has what you need by just asking. www.reloadersauction.com

EYE I would just cancel paypal and have them transfer your funds to your checking account then just tell the guy whats going on and that you will send a money order or have him send a money order and you are right since ebay changed the feedback there is no reason to use them at all thats the other reason i moved to reloadersauction.com. You can contact me or the admin and get an answer within 6 hours most time or faster.

Hate to hear that happened

If you could I would refund the money and send ebay an email stating what happened. Maybe someone else who has gone through something similar could help out better.

Well I just sold 1 for a 100.00 & paypal put it in there. They have 167.00 on hold between 2 auctions & just deposited a 100.00 Thats weird stuff.

Again, all you folks saying to "cancel PayPal" and the like obviously don't sell much on eBay. Not accepting PayPal slashes your buyer pool WAY down.

And also hurts your visibility on eBay search engine.

Is it a loaded deck?

Yep.

But of course you don't have to play (unless you need to).

I know people who have mentioned key words (gun, firearm, pistol, etc.) in their PayPal correspondence and the seller has consequently had their account locked.

I've sold thousands of items on eBay in the last 10 years, however since PayPal became "it" on there I have gradually dropped off selling there almost completely except for specific items where I know the profit I'll get on ebay will make up for the fees and headaches involved.

Craigslist and local(ish) forums (like this one) I have found to be superior for selling quick and LOW on the headache scale.
