Yes the zoo is off limits as far as carry goes. Not really a real reason why. It's just one of those places that doesn't allow it. It's not posted anywhere that I know of. It might be on one of the park rules signs but I won't say for sure. The rangers are fairly observant (they really don't have much else to do).

bklem, i didnt know you worked at the zoo. I did community service there when i was about 15 for a curfew violation i had.

Yeah we get a few CS workers in every now and then. We actually had Tina Wesson's son in one weekend. She was the winner of the 2nd (I think) Survivor show, she lives in Knoxville. Her son was a little douchebag.

Thanks for the heads up. I just really hate having to leave my gun in the car.

That's not something I'd do in east Knoxville. We have vehicle break ins every now and then in the parking lots. My best advice: Leave it at home or conceal it.

I don't know of anything that would keep you from legally carry at a zoo in TN. I have carried several times at the Memphis Zoo, of course concealed. I'm not leaving a gun in my car in Memphis city limits to be stolen.

Technically you are correct, however it is against the park rules and you must comply if asked to leave, just like any place else that's improperly posted. There is no law in TN forbidding carry in a zoo, but the zoo is a business and can prohibit carry if they so choose.
