Does anyone have any idea when the Barrett .338 Lapua is coming out for commerial sale? I was thinking of getting the 50 cal before but you cant shoot that just any place and the 338 lapua just seems to make more sense if you want a big cal rifle. I'd love to find out when its coming out since they dont tell you and how much it will start out for the base model. If anyone has any idea please email message me and let me know, I have gotten the run around and heard so many conflicting storys.

I have researched it some but the ammo is so much harder to find then the 338 lapua and cost seems to be higher. Shooting the 50BMG and the 416 can be hard to find a place that will allow you to. Plus the 416 is as high as the 50BMG I'm hoping the 338 comes out a couple G's lower but Im not holding my breath on that. I love Barrett but man they are high, I also want the REC7 but for the price I can get a really tricked out 6.8SPC from DPMS with everything you can stick on it. HAHA

I have heard early this year. My brother in law has been looking seriously at it but I doubt he will be lining up to pay the hefty price. Really dig the scope on it too.

I have been trying all damn year to get a 338LM gun in a common working man's price range like the AR30 or the rem. M24A3 but as usual I have had no luck. I had read somewhere that armalite was supposed to have put the AR30 back into retail production but I have yet to find anyone who can get me one in 338LM.

Looks cool... but way, way too much money. You can get an Armalite AR30, put a very nice scope and a Jewell trigger on it, and still come out a grand behind the Barrett. I mean, how "revolutionary" can a turnbolt repeating rifle be? $4.5K of my money into a non-scoped rifle and it's gonna be custom built by Surgeon, Ed Brown, Montana rifleman, or the like.

Of course. I'm going to have to make the drive just to see your store. The floor has got to be made of sponges to catch all the drool.

When you decide to go, holler at me. I've gotta see this shop. I'll even drive.

It looks like the first 300 Barrett 98B are committed to a large distributor.

I spoke with a friend there, and he has promised me one of the first rifles they receive :D
