Hello Guys, Wondering What You'All Thought Of The Model 5906 9mm?

Good gun. I had a 6906 which is just the next size down and it was a good shooter and didn't jam on me. I ran just over 1,000 rounds through it before another gun wanted me to take it home. I really like the 3rd gen Smith autos.

Very nice gun. By the 3rd generation, S&W had the autopistol thing figured out. All steel, very solidly built and extremely light recoil. Small enough to conceal if needed, but still handles like a full-sized service gun. Plenty accurate and the ones I've shot were very reliable. The safety is bass-ackwards, so it's best used as purely a decocker gun and carried off safe.

BTW, I think Dan and Joe have a couple used 5906s in stock right now! Of course, they wouldn't shamelessly advertise that, but I have no qualms indoing so!

5906 is a work horse as a duty or combat handgun. A lot of PD’s still use them.

I wouldn’t want a double stack as a carry.

I had a 4006 and it was built like a friggin tank! If I didn't hit what I was aiming at I could throw it at the target for the final blow.

Very, very well made pistols. Have been eyeing a 4506 for a while now.

Funny, Pie! I have a 4506-1. Have had it since about 1994 or so. No more than 200-300 rounds at most. It doubles between safe queen and nightstander. It was my first love!!! Still is! Definitely not carry-friendly! A cop may in fact be lighter!!

my first handgun was a 5906. good shooter...reliable...and inexpensive. surplus mags are also readily available since many leo's carried or carry these

Have been eyeing a 4506 for a while now.

In the 80's, I had a Model 645, then traded it for a 4506. Ended up selling my 4506 in the early 90's... thats one gun I wish I still had.....

If I ever end up eyeing one, Ill end up BUYING one....... Great gun IMO!!

Just got a 5906 on trade yesterday. It is built like a tank. Super accurate. Carried it all day, felt like a brick on my hip but comfortable IWB after a few minutes. Stoked about it.

The 5906 and 3913 were and are the best of the S&W 4 digit model number product line. With them you have a very good DA/SA trigger, good magazines, excellent sights and really nice barrels.The width and weight of the 5906 gives it good balance and recoil control in rapid fire strings. A fellow would be well armed if he choose either of these pistols.

Great guns, the only draw back being they are a little on the heavy side. A lot of Glock holsters I have laying around will work with a 5906. I had a 915 which is very similar and I should have kept it.

The 5906 was my duty weapon back in the 80's. Still have that same exact pistol. A great gun.

Best range semi auto gun I own. Never jams, very little reciol, accurate, fits and points naturally in my hand. The only seimi I have seriously considered getting a 2nd one of. Got mine from CDNN for $299

I suppose you could say that the 5906 was my first gun although it wasn't really mine (department issued). I'd say I put some 5,000+++ rnds down range in one of these and let me tell you.. It has to be one of the best 9mm's of all time. The thing is TOUGH, RELIABLE, COMFORTABLE, and ACCURATE. I love the triggers on them and of course the DA/SA mode. I can say with absolute certainty that for the money, it can not be beat. Let me warn you though: it's old, its heavy, and it's very fat. It is for those reasons that I now carry a CZ 75 Compact. Same attributes, less bulky.

I have the 5946 DAO model as my EDC. I love it! It is very accurate and recoil is almost non-existent.

Took my HCP with a 5906. Too heavy and big for my taste. Still a good shooter that's rock solid.
