I hadn't thought about it but I believe Ambien could do that, or make a person do bizzare things. When my dad became bedridden in 07 just a few months before he passed away he was put on Ambien 10mg. at night. One night we called 911 because of the Ambien, I didn't realize how hard that affected people. He was reading a book just 2 to 5 minutes after taking his pill and I was talking to him, all of the sudden his eyes closed and his hand holding the book started shaking and he became un-responsive. That didn't happen gradually but instantly, I thought he was having a heart attack so I called the paramedics, they checked him out and his vitals were okay and one said the Ambien had that radical reaction to him because he was getting so weak then. He became aware again shortly the paramedics arrived and didn't understand what all the fuss was about. All I knew was he suddenly went out, shaking almost like a mini seizure and could not be awakened. After that I started giving only half whiched worked and if he needed the other half at 2 or 3am I would give him that, he didn't have that radical of a reaction to just 1/2 or 5mg.

I would be way too scared to take Ambien after what I saw and have heard about, I would require that I would be shackled to the bed if I took that. I remember reading an artical from a doctor that said he believed Ambien sometimes puts people's brain to sleep but not their body, they are walking around, driving and doing other physical activities all the time their mind is in a dreamstate, that's scary as hell.

Ambien is a plausible explanation. A popular way to abuse it is to fight the initial urge to sleep. After 20-30 minutes, many people will start to hallucinate. A dr explained it to me as be much like the old quaaludes. We had a guy defecate on the floor of a c-17, and then climb up into the cockpit during a flight on them.
They're even more dangerous when mixed with alcohol. A local lawyer who had also owned a LGS at one point got into an altercation with Clarksville PD while mixing ambien and alcohol that led to him being killed.

My wife has a friend that takes them and she said that shortly after getting them she fought the urge to sleep one night because it was still early. She said that her family thought she was going crazy because she was sitting in the chair waving her hands in the air and screaming like she was riding a roller coaster.
