Bear in Davidson County?

Nice! They are getting around! Had one on the property last month, none of the neighbors have ever seen one before in this part of Jefferson county.

I'm going to be hanging in those trees for the next few months.

At least I won't be caught off guard.

Would have been much more of a shock if I wasn't expecting to see one.

I had one cross the street in front of me, not 100 yards from the house....(Carter County)  Mrs. was saying "Oh how cute"...I was saying "Oh sh*t!".....It climbed a vertical rock face and ran over the hill towards my house....The 12ga. came out of the safe as soon as I got home.....

12 gauge will probably just piss it off.

12 guage slug will turn his lights out quick if placed in a critical spot.....  :)  A black bear was killed near Marquand, MO a couple of years ago with .22 long rifle.  The bear was eating dog food from storage shed and home owner feared for his life.  Conservation Agents ruled it a good shoot... No charges filed for taking the bear.

My wife saw one over here in La Vergne near Priest. The side of the road it came from is a neighborhood behind Kroger, so I figured it was scavenging. That kind of worries me for the bear's sake. I'd hate to see it get shot.

This was near Old Hickory in Whites Creek.

It could just be an above average sized Raccoon that ate WAY too many persimmon.

Looked too big for Racoon

But I'm going to keep my eyes open.

Looks like a coyote scat to me. See it all the time around my place.

We need something for scale. Put a 12 gauge slug or something we all know the size of beside it and take another pic.

I don't see any fur mixed in so I don't think it's coyote. My bro-n-law swears he saw one in Rutherford Co. I guess I owe him an apology.

Coyote or maybe deer scat. Both animals stomachs react alike when eating Persimmons. Deer droppings lose the "pellet" shape and gets soft and forms stools as in the picture due to the persimmon. Odds are, it's coyote though.

Over the past several years there has been a least a bear a year in the middle of Knoxville. This year have had two in early summer. One trapped and relocated, one hit on I 640/40 interchange area.

12ga is fine for bears. I know of people down in FL who shoot em in the a$$ with bird shot to keep em out of their yard every now and then.
