So my 360 has come down with a case of the Red ring of death RROD. Does anyone know of anyone or anyplace locally that fixes these? I call a place on Charlotte that told me anywhere between 30.00 to 125.00 but thats a big gap. Just thought Id try some options from any of you guys. I know there are some gamers on here.

Have you already used up all of your fixes from Microsoft or are you trying to avoid sending it away?

Actually I just got off the phone with them & they are gonna send me a shipping label & handle the problem. They seemed pretty helpful. I was shocked. My xbox was out of warranty I assume. Its atleast 3 years old. Hopefully I will have it soon.

Yeah, I think Microsoft has an unlimited warranty for the RROD because it seems ot be a problem from the factory. Or, thy could just be unusually helpful.

So do I need to remove the hard drive before I send it back? Im still waiting for t he email with the shipping label.

Definitely remove the hard drive. There will be instructions on what to do in the box they sent.

AFAIK, Microsoft gives free RROD repairs for three years after the date of purchase. It's also my understanding that the RROD warranty resets for another three years after it is repaired.

It took about five weeks to get mine back. Ended up getting an arcade system as a back up if/when one of them goes down.

There are people in my Halo clan that have been through ten 360's. Wait 'till the fall update comes out. After you d/l it, you'll probably get red rings again. :)

Playstation 3, it cures what ails ya. Besides, Halo is soooo 10 yrs ago. :)

A guy I work with just got his PS3 back last month. He had to send it in to Sony because the Blu Ray drive failed. He had to pay $180 to get it fixed.

They didnt say anything about sending a box except that they used to do that but it slowed the turnaround time down to recieve a replacement. They send a email with a printout for a UPS label & you have to package it yourself. I guess Ill bubble wrap the core unit & hope for the best.

We got a RROD on ours a little while ago. (Right after Mercenaries launched.)

I'm still waiting for my sister to send me the receipt (It was a family Christmas

present.) so we can send it back. We're thinking of getting an Arcade system for

the kids in the mean time.

I didn't have the reciept for mine. It's a 2006 model. All I had to do was give them the serial number off of it & they said it was covered the number is

1-800-4my-xbox. They should be able to handle it for you.

Should have bought it from Best Buy with the PRP (product replacement plan) - we'd just exchange it for a new one if you brought it in because of the RROD. :screwy: lol

I'm waiting for the box from Sony to send my ps3 back in, the bluetooth has been crapping out intermittently since I got it. I think it's pretty common. It makes me feel good to know that xbox's are crap, too.

Go to www.xbox.com and log in. Go to the support section and look for the RROD repair link. You can enter the serial number there and that should take care of it. You can get updates from that page on what to do next. If you call them, it might take a while.
