Is Form 4473 Racist?

I can tell you the temptation to list myself as a Hispanic Pacific Islander is almost too great. I get a chuckle out of the idea every time I fill out the form.

I dont know how racist the sheet is, but I can't really see who or how the info helps either.

Hispanic/Latino is an ethnic identifier, not race. In other words, you can be from an ethnic background that qualifies as Hispanic/Latino, but have different skin color. It's literally about data collection.

It works the same way with sex, gender, and sexual orientation. They are related, but different aspects of a person's identity. Sex is biological, gender is a socially defined set of traits and how one "feels" about their identity within those social boundaries. Sexual orientation is one's sexual preference. If you've ever heard someone jokingly say "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body", what they are really saying is they are someone who was born a man, has a gender identity that is transexual (they actually feel feminine), and are heterosexual because their preference matches their gender identity. We will look back 100 years from now and shake our heads in disbelief as to our obsession with race

I doubt it. I don't see us making it that much longer.

Speaking of gender and sexual orientation, Phil Valentine was talking yesterday about a guy that was having a sex change so he could be a lesbian. Edited by Trekbike

Next thing ya know, they'll be asking if you're wet or dry.

I rarely respond to my own posts, but I just remembered that there's already a yes/no question if you are an illegal.  Maybe they'll ask instead for your voting preference.

When I was called a wetback, I would usually respond, "No, I am a scratch back as I went under the fence". I feel that there is nothing that your "Race" changes on these forms so should be irrelevant. Nowadays there are so many that are of mixed race that it is becoming harder to truthfully answer those questions unless you go for a DNA test beforehand.

No.

Gender in the traditional, literal sense refers to a person's physical anatomy, how they were born, either male or female. Psychological variants in their mental or emotional state might result in them acting homosexual, bisexual, trans-gender, or even zoophilic instead of the most common heterosexual behavior, but this doesn't change their gender. Even gender surgery doesn't fully change their gender, it just leaves them in a mutant form of their original gender.

Of course the liberal and politically correct folks will argue that gender is based on your emotions, preferences, etc. and can be changed or declared at will. I prefer to stick with the physical and biblical definitions.
