My Century Arms AK-74 needs a new barrel

Is it a new gun or is it an older gun that has been shot a lot?

And have you done all the obvious like clean it really, really well? Have the crown redone? Or tried different ammo?

Manson Reamers makes a very nice recrowning tool. It is also VERY cheap for what it is and what it does. it is possible to recrown a barrel without removing it.

John,

Is this one of the notorious CAI builds where they put the 5.56 barrels into their AK-74s?

Century Arms Notorious it is. Key holed from day 1.

Have you contacted Century Arms? Who knows, if they are aware of the problem they might fix it for you.

Century Arms is aware. This issue is years old.

Helped a buddy replace the barrel on his - we cut that old barrel apart so that you could see that there really wasn't any d@mn rifling in that thing,. 223 rifling would have been match grade compared to this thing. I believe he has since sold or traded all the tools we used but I'll see what i can find out
