The term "cargo" wasn't used in a manner befitting honor, in the same way referring to the crew chief as "stewardess" wasn't.

This whole thread gave me a laugh. I went to basic at Ft Jackson, C-5-1, tank hill. I was part of a package platoon of Parachute Riggers so went directly to Ft Benning for Airborne school right after basic. 21 years later retired here from the 1-160th SOAR (A).

Ft. Jackson Tank Hill 1980. Had more pics that got lost between Jackson, Benning and Ft. Stewart, really wish I had them now. The pic doesn't show much, that was one of my friends at Jackson, I can't remember his name though, you meet alot of people in basic and AIT.

Those were definatly vintage barraks that have alot of history from WW2. I highly doubt they still exist now. My dad was somewhere at Tank Hill before being sent to airborn training back in 43 which I have to assume was at Benning then, it was pretty new at that time.

Ah, the 160th....I worked Destiny Crash alot. I always hated going to "The Dark Side" in the fire truck. The other nic name we had for it was "Disney Land". Too much secret squirrel stuff went on over there for me! Now we sit out in front of the hangers on the parking ramp and pop deer on the runway. Night Stalker land!
