Pierce/Ted Nugent 70gr TSX .223 first thoughts...

Since finding any load in a barnes 70gr TSX is difficult, I thought I would give these rounds a try... even though I can't stomach buying anything with someone's face plastered across the front.

I was short on time today and fired (1) five round group at 100yds.  It was about 3.5MOA.   rats.  - could've been me, but I am not optimistic about this ammo's accuracy.  -- it would leave my point blank range for deer hunting right at 100yds.  I was hoping to be good to 150 or so.

Possible factors:

1) I was short on time (I was careful with my breath, relaxation, and surprise trigger break)

2) I was shooting slightly "up hill" from prone.

3) I was sweating buckets.

still... I was incredibly (sadly) surprised as each round hit... it seemed like they were all over the place.

Anyone else shooting these?  - getting different results or the same?

I may move on to remington or Black Hills' 62gr TSX.  ... or I may just hunt with Hornady's 75gr BTHP.

I would expect a little better accuracy than that for the price. Like you said, maybe you didn't have a good day though. Give it another shot and see if it turns out different.

When I tried reloading TTSX in my 30-06 last year it took me a while to get a good load. But once I got it right, it is a solid 3/4" load all day out to 200 yards.
I wonder if the factory load just isn't "right", at least not for your rifle? Certainly try and shoot another couple of groups when you are less rushed.
