Anyone with polymer guns look inside

Those that carry IWB, do you have any concerns with mechanical stress when you sit in your car seat?  I am specifically wondering about Glocks but any feedback is helpful.  Also please state how long you have been sitting with you gun holstered IWB.

As far a breaking the polymer? If so the only issue I ever heard of was a Border Patrol Agent who fell off an ATV onto his H&K breaking it.

LEO have been in and out of seats millions of times not counting rolling around on the ground and falling on them. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Inspect after a bad fall maybe, but worry about it? Nahh.

Make sure to keep up with maintenance because the metal parts do not fair as well as polymer in humid environments like IWB.

Not an issue I've ever heard of, I see no reason why it would be of concern. Are you worried about the frame holding up to the weight/pressure?

 

Did a 14 hour drive down to Fla a few months ago, G19 carried IWB sitting in a car the whole way (well maybe reclined back a few times for a few of those hours).

Carried mine IWB for many years (Glock) and have had no problems. The only thing I could see is a holster that is too soft or does not fit properly may be unsafe.

This.  And generally if I'm going to be sitting in the car for any length of time, I take the gun off my hip.

I did an 11 hour road trip with a G23 IWB with no issues. It did leave a little impression in the back of the seat where the butt was resting. Only reason I had to wear it was the amount of stuff we had crammed into the SUV. Other wise it was have ridden in it's normal resting place in the console.

I'm more concerned with stress on my body.  I usually try to not drive over 10-12 hours.

Yeah, I am thinking about the weight when carrying at the 4:00/4:30 position.   I am just thinking getting in and out of a seat over time might hurt the frame.

I carry a Glock 19 in Afghanistan. Working 12-16 hour days, 6-7 days a week. Primarily working in and out of bearcats. Never once seen a Glock bend, break or do whatever. I have broken a glock and my TL at the time broke his within a week of mine breaking. So, that sucked. But thats another story. Also, I carry a Glock 19 daily when I'm home in the states. Never had an issue with the polymer here either.

 

You have nothing to worry about with getting in and out of vehicles with your Glock.

Are you carrying it without a mag inserted?

If you are, the your an idiot.
If not, then the mag, not to mention the rounds inside in will reinforce everything from even bending, regardless of whether its a plastic mag or metal. The metal inserted into the frame to house the trigger mechanisms will reinforces the rest of the frame, so does the slide.

There you have it.

It will do more damage to your seat and your back than to the gun.
Especially for driving, AIWB is my preferred carry. This way you can realistically draw from the seated position.

Especially for driving, AIWB is my preferred carry. This way you can realistically draw from the seated position.

Glock could not dominate the LEO market for so long if they had any significant service issues, period.
