Recommended Posts

Posted

On August 30th we will hold an Introduction to Competitive Shooting Day. New shooters are encouraged to attend and will get to run through the different disciplines we shoot at MCTS. Experienced shooters can come out and practice the stages that will be set-up.

We will have one bay dedicated to learning the rules and gun handling needed to shoot your first match.

Experienced shooters are encouraged to come out and bring a friend, or significant other who is ready to get started.

The bays will be open for practice runs when not needed for the new shooters.

USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and Outlaw Steel will be available.

Day will start at 7:00am with set-up. With a shooters meeting at 8:30am and shots by 9:00am.

Needed;

Safe firearm with a strong side holster or gun rug, box or bag to store it in.

Magazine or speed loader carriers are recommended but not needed.

At least 100 rounds but bring more so you can shoot more.

Eye and ear protection. A must!

$25.00 entry. We will try and wrap the day up by 1:00pm.

Spectators are welcome to come out but bring eye and ear protection to.

There will be a Three Gun Stage set up. Hognut will have a rifle and a shotgun to use. Just bring some factory ammo. 5.56(223) and 12 gauge birdshot.

Given that there is a 90% chance of rain tomorrow is this still on?

Yes since the thunderstorms are scheduled for the PM(afternoon). John will make the call officially on the day of the event. We have only cancelled matches due to lightening(we shoot in rain, sleet, hail, snow and sunshine).

I'm looking forward to it. 24 hours ago I had two buddies coming with me... one had to cancel, and the other injured himself while working out.

I'll be there shooting rain or shine.

Thanks all for coming out. The rain mostly held off. All of our matches are friendly to new shooters. So don't hesitate to come out.

Yep, a good time was had by all. Nice folks and no pressure. It's always nice to put faces with TGO screen names, too.

Thanks to wiljo05 for being my camera man. This was not a very good display of shooting prowess (cuz I don't have any yet!) but here's a little video of a stage from today.

Thanks to Mechanic_x for putting it on. Always good to have trigger time, and to study/steal ideas and tips from the others!

@Musicman, good meeting you today as well. Hopefully we'll see you out again.

Had a good time with the new shooters. The one I brought said it was the "best experience!"

Thanks for those that stayed and shot my 3 gun stage in the pouring rain!
