Nashville this weekend

Meh....just a T-shirt shop with a bunch of other cool stuff to look at that's not for sale.

+1 to Wilson Co. Fair. Look for Bradley's Creamery for some amazing ice cream churned on site. It won't be on the Midway. He's usually closer to the Fiddlers Grove area.

Off the top of my head for places to see/things to do in Nashville:

  • Backstage tour of The Ryman
  • The Country Music Hall of Fame with Studio B and Hatch Show Print
  • Hear live music at the honky tonks
  • TN State Museum and TN Military museum (both free)
  • The Frist Center (art museum)
  • Centennial Park and The Parthenon
  • Corsair distillery
  • The new Johnny Cash Museum is getting some good reviews over on TripAdvisor, but I haven't been
  • Take your wife shopping. There are independent funky boutiques in 12 South & Five Points. High-end stores are in Green Hills. The Gulch is a mix of both.

If you want to try the hot chicken then Prince's is the original, but it's a dive in a lousy part of town. Hattie B's, 400 Degrees, and Pepperfire are all good and have nicer places in better locations. Whichever heat level you think you want, go down 1 or 2 notches. If you're the kind of guy that eats ghost peppers like jelly beans, then go to Prince's and ask them to make it hot...real hot, not the tourist hot. They can serve up stuff that will clean RhinoLiner out of your truck bed. I'm not ashamed to admit that Prince's regular is about all I can handle.

My brother said something about going to the soundroom tomorrow night he has been wanting to go I want to hear some live music so any other suggestions for live music?[/quote]honkey Tonk central. Live music? Broadway from 2nd to 5th Ave. No cover charges. Just tip the bands. A couple of bucks if you only hang around for a while. $5-10 if you stay for an hour or more. There's a dueling piano bar in Printers Alley. That can be fun.

For venues with a cover sharge, check out Station Inn in The Gulch for bluegrass, 3rd and Lindsley for more rock and less country, or Listening Room Cafe for a singer/songwriter vibe. I've never heard of the soundroom. For a party crowd, look at Tin Roof near Vandy.

If you like Country Music, hit up Tootsies, however fair warning all the beer on Broadway is like 4.75-5.25 and up. Hit a few shots of Whiskey in your Hotel room before going down there.

I'm not a big drinker but my brother and I had 4 drinks at honky tonk central were $24 but they were all poured tall. At wild horse saloon we got 2 drinks for 14 but they were all iced down
