Open carry vs. the New Black Panthers? Someone has lost their mind.

If there wasn’t such a potential for innocents to get hurt; that would be hilarious. They have come a long way from taking on Starbucks. Think someone should tell them how this will end?

Proponents of Open Carry Texas met with leaders of one of Houston's biggest black neighborhoods about a planned OC demonstration on Saturday. Things turned out as expected.

http://www.click2houston.com/news/gun-rights-group-open-carry-texas-warned-to-stay-out-of-fifth-ward/27465032

"I'm going to tell you something homie, this is Fifth Ward, you ain't coming in here running nothing," community activist Quanell X said while flanked by members of the New Black Panther Party, who were holding assault rifles.

Who the hell are these assholes to decide who comes into that crappy ward or any other place for that matter? I didn't realize Obozo had declared martial law.

He is about as high as you get on the violent racist lists. If they think because they are armed they can do what they want Quanell X and his followers will leave them lying in the street.

I’m not sure how this tuned into a race boiling point or if it has. Are all these gun activists’ crackers?

Sounds like a charming neighborhood indeed!

To tell the truth, I wouldn't be real excited about a bunch of people I didn't know tromping around my neighborhood waving gun either. Would you?

I'm about ready for the open carry crowd to quit "helping".

As someone in the video said; it shows no respect for the people that live there.

Exactly.

I would say that they're working against their own interests, but I think their own interests are just to get on tv and internets.
Seems the black panthers would enjoy a little open carry party. Everything's a racial event though
The article said that the black panthers were there with assault rifles. I think it is hilarious that they would come to an event protesting open carrying rifles while open carrying rifles. Edited by jbravo

They are claiming territory and they want a fight. These fat kids with rifles are a joke.

This is what they told Sharpton about the St. Louis incident. The difference is in the Texas neighborhood they have no opposition. In St. Louis they will die where they make their stand.

Whatever, I still think it's funny. This has nothing to do with St Louis. The original story was in Houston. Personally, if they are not on private property and it is legal, open carry of a rifle doesn't bother me a bit. In Texas it's perfectly legal.

I still think these morons are working for the other side.

Clearly they're succeeding on all fronts.

"Saturday we will come and protect and defend our community because we don't trust them," said Quanell X. "Their motives are out of control."

I found this interesting. While I do not care for OCTX and their action, what exactly does Quanell X think they are going to do while OCing there?  I doubt they plan to start shooting the place up, or to loot and burn it.

And I also found it ironic that Panther's were there OCing rifles to protest the Ocing of guns.

I doubt the OCTX will start the shooting.   Liable to be some of it though.

It all adds up to a stupid action on everyone's part.

The panthers are a hate group and the only thing they hate more than white people are white people with guns.

OCTX harms the public view of the Pro-2A movement as much as The Westboro Baptist Church harms the public view of Chrisianity.

I would not care if you had a group of people that wanted to have a neighborhood bonfire and roast Marsh mellows, your going to have someone that is against it. There will always be those people that will find something wrong with everything. I have no respect for the OC people in Texas for their actions but I will fight with my dying breath their right to do what they do as long as it is a legal action and within the boundaries of our Constitution. I don't have to agree with it but like the person that objects to the bonfire I don't have to approve of it. As far as the " NEW" Black Panthers which I never knew that the old ones went away go, they have as much right to show up with their guns as do the OC group as long as they are legal to own said long guns. In all reality it should not be a race issue at all. It should be strictly a Constitutional event and not a racial one. Can that be allowed to happen? It would be interesting to see if it could or not but not at the cost of someones life...............jmho

And if there are any random shots, it will most definitely be blamed on OCTX even if they didn't do it. It's a lose-lose.

Of course it would be blamed on the OCTX group for just being in the neighborhood to begin with. Just being there would be cause to provoke someone to pop a cap...................jmho

You know, either of these groups could step down from their pedestals of foolish pride and call this off. I'll have absolutely zero sympathy for any participants who get injured or killed. The real tragedy is that knowing Murphy, all asshats will walk away unscathed and some uninvolved 3year old will get with a stray a few blocks away.

I'm really trying here and can't see anyone to root for in this.
