Recommended Posts

We are located in northeast Knox County, regular  mechanic cant get to it till Monday, really could use it this weekend. Anybody have suggestions for a good, honest garage in this area that might be able to repair it tomorrow?

you might try Fountain City Auto Clinic.  The shop is on Woodrow behind Home Federal.  Jerry the owner is the most straight dealing mechanic I have ever know.

For a short term fix depending on the leak black pepper will work short term for pin leaks.

Thanks Mike, know where that is. New Process Radiator was suggested to me, close to my work and they tell me they can get me in and out tomorrow. Any experience with them?

Never heard of the black pepper treatment, thanks for the tip!

never heard of New Process Radiator.

If Jerry can get you in tomorrow he is the guy to go to.   It is a busy shop though.

Black Pepper is an old circle track race car trick I use probably a 100 times to seal up small leaks. Sometimes takes a couple cans but it works. Not very good on seam leaks though...................

Not sure that the black pepper will work with modern AL radiators and newer antifreeze. I know that old copper radiators and old glycol ethtelene (spelling) antifreeze it works great.
