FLIR One has landed

They've been hyping it since January, and a few media types have been playing with samples, but now I, just a regular guy who ordered one on line, have the FLIR One thermal imaging attachment for the iPhone. 

 

It's pretty darn cool.... $350 is a fraction of the price of any sort of TI device available.

You still have the iPhone?  You don't even need wi-fi for the FLIR to work.

 

I plan to turn my 5 into a dedicated thermal imager / music player when I get my next phone.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but it just seems like a waste of money to me.

Is it true thermal??? The image on the tv looks too clear to me but the other objects show the differential. A test I use is to hold the camera pointing to a painted wall and wipe your hand down it. If it shows the streaks, it's got good resolution through temp differential displayed...
Would love to see a hand test showing streaks...

It looks like there is residual heat on and around the chair from someone sitting. Depending on how long after the picture got taken, I'd say that's pretty good. I tend to doubt that they'd put out anything bogus, even at the rediculous price for the tech. I'd love to have one, but I'll wait until the price come down a bit, or I scratch a few other itches first.

It's a hybrid image using the camera in the iPhone and the thermal sensor on the FLIR unit.

I really want to get one of these but I want to wait and see what the new phone is going to be.
