Well, the NCAA passed approval that college athletes can be paid for playing sports while attending college. Since many kids that play college ball are there on scholarships that are in some way paid for by tax dollars or other fund raising organizations I think if they are going to begin paying college athletes that are attending school on a scholarship they should loose that scholarship funding and they can finish paying their way through school and scholarships can be given to non athletic students that don't play sports but need the scholarship money to attend college. I already know that grade point averages don't mean anything if your a hot wide receiver or a hot quarterback or any other star player. You can tell that if you listen to them in the professional level during and after a game when they are interviewed and they can't put a 7 word sentence together that they did'nt fair well in the class rooms but excelled on the playing field or BB court..............jmho

The one sport I truly enjoy(ed) is college football.  Are there any of the few simple pleasures I have left that anyone would like to fuck up?

I think they should get paid for it, those NCAA companies are making BILLIONS and the players are making zilch.  

 

Otherwise I don't believe that the NCAA should be able to use the likeness of or exploit the players for anything where money is made by them.

I thought all they did was say kids at private universities could unionize and attempt to get paid?

I agree Bersa, at least in spirit anyway. If a players pay can cover his tuition it should. At the very least it should change the way athletic scholarships are used and funded.

I'm not a college sports fan so I don't really have a strong or educated opinion, but my gut says that this is going to be an even bigger distraction to the player/student, a and I can't help but wonder if the same incentive to graduate and go pro will be there. I don't like it.
