Amendment to nullify gun legislation in Missouri!

Two similar bills HB2145 and SB1607 have been introduced to nullify federal gun control within the state of Tennessee. The legislation prohibits the state from enforcing “any federal act, law, order, rule or regulation that relates to a personal firearm, firearm accessory or ammunition within the limits of this state.”

STATUS:  HB2145 assigned to Civil Justice Subcommittee on Feb. 04^th and will need to be passed by a majority vote of the committee to be sent to the full house for a vote.

STATUS:  SB1607 has assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee and needs to also be approved by a majority of the committee members to be sent to the Senate for a vote.

You don't seem to get that the two TN bills died in committee early in last session?

Ok, I'm glad Missouri got their bills voted on and won by a landslide. My question is where do our bills stand at the present time and will they be voted on before the November elections?...................... :shrug: :shrug:

 

I just said, they're dead. Our legislature adjourned for the year a couple of months ago.

Ok so that means that Senators voting no were: Kelsey, Overbey, Finney, Stevens -- 4. and they were the reason we did not get these passed if I am correct????

Sen Brian Kelsey (Ramsey's handpicked replacement for Mae Beavers as chair of the Sen Judiciary Cmte) effectively killed the TN Senate version in the last session.  Sen Beavers has indicated that she will bring teh legislation back next year.

Well I have never had much use for Ramsey and now I have less use for him. He just looks like someone you can't trust and I would never vote for him, not even for dog catcher. I hope Senator Beavers does bring it back and maybe by then there will be a change in the Governors office also but I don't know if Haslam has anyone challenging him???

The only way Bill ain't guv for a second term is if he croaks first. Then he'll replace Lamar in Washington.

I'm assuming that barring health issue (mental ones don't matter obviously :)),  Lamar will serve out the term, then pave the way for Bill in 2020.

People on here that are talking about Haslam and how to get rid of him. Have you looked at the people running against him in the primary. I don't really think I want either of those guys as chief exec of the state. Come on. It is between Coonrippy and police won't be able to do anything but write traffic violations. Hmmmm...... That is neither here nor there, average joe does not have to know who she is, simply the 2nd most powerful politician in Tennessee is all.  Ramsey can't stand Haslam, so they are not going to just let him "Have" the mansion.  Harwell helps Dollar Bill in his Presidential Run, Corker runs for Governor, all that money, ring around the rosy, just change seats...

The best part of all this for Missourians the actual Amendment 5 as passed by voters:

 

". . .  the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned. The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. The state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement.”

With a Chairman of the the Judiciary (posted up because he "plays ball" with the powers that be) in the Senate that really believes the Supremacy Clause, (because it was written after the Bill or Rights) trumps the 10th Amendment, they are not.  Like Obama, they are picking and choosing which laws to uphold.

The 2nd says the feds can not occupy the field with regard to infringing on our Rights to own military grade weapons, we just will not elect folks who will hold to that standard. So the "Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act" is a toothless dog, and we are not the masters of our government as described in Article 1 § 1. Powers of people

Have no idea.  Nor does the state gov.  Nor does the fed gov.  That's the whole purpose of the law.
