Help Needed in Murfreesboro!

Hi gang, ever go every place you thought you could find something...and come up empty handed? I've been to every place in Murfreesboro, except one...Grady Jones' shop, looking for some Ruger 10/22 receiver scope mount (Weaver T09) screws. I really need the long one in the front. The thread size is 6-48. Does anyone in the Murfreesboro area know where I could buy some this weekend? I've been to Grady's twice, and he was closed both times. I'd like to shoot this "Sporter Deluxe" model tomorrow, but want to mount the mount properly, before I put it all back together again. If anyone knows anyone that has some to spare, I can pay cash or trade some .22LR ammo. I've posted an ad over on GOC (Gun Owner's Club). Thanks.

Hey Sidewinder, I replaced the 10/22 factory weaver rail on mine with a pic rail and i'm almost certain that it came with new screws that I used. I kept everything from the swap so if what you're looking for is the factory screws then I probably have what you need. I am in Florida right now but am heading back to Murfreesboro at 6-6:30 am tomorrow and can check as soon as I get home. Like I said, if the replacement rail came with new screws then I will have the originals. Let me know if that's what you're needing.

Hey Sidewinder, I replaced the 10/22 factory weaver rail on mine with a pic rail and i'm almost certain that it came with new screws that I used. I kept everything from the swap so if what you're looking for is the factory screws then I probably have what you need. I am in Florida right now but am heading back to Murfreesboro at 6-6:30 am tomorrow and can check as soon as I get home. Luke, it just may be. Actually, what has happened is that someone used screws that were too short...and too much oil. I'm thinking that the excessive oil kept allowing the screws to loosen. This in turn, would make someone try to tighten it even more. That extra tightening took out the top two or three threads in the receiver. However, the bottom threads are fine, and should work fine, as long as the screws are long enough to come to the edge of the inside of the receiver. Then a little blue LockTite, and light oiling, should keep them in place.

 

I just traded for the gun, and the guy said I might need to tighten the base screws up, and apply some thread locker. When I took it apart I found the top threads stripped in the front two screws. Was the base you removed a T09? If so, those screws may be long enough. The front screw is 3/8" long, I think. Midway has the base and base screws, but we all know how long that takes.

 Yep, some folks just can't grasp the idea of not using the same torque on tiny screws as they would on a set of dump truck lug nuts... Anyways, I do believe that it was a T09 base but I will certainly check as soon as I get to the house. If I have them and they'll work for you then they're yours. I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Kudos to Luke E and Grady Jones' Gun Shop...I now have my scope base attached to my Ruger 10/22 Deluxe Sporter stainless. I really appreciate the good folks on TGO that are willing to help another hunter/shooter. A thank you also goes to the young man at Outpost Armory that gave me two screws that were used in the installation. Also, a thank you goes out to TGO, for creating a family of like minded individuals that are willing to help out another TGO family member. Thanks to all of you.
