Being it was in L.A. and was on Martin Luther King Blvd the cop probably sold it and broke the locking mechanism to make them think he lost it................jmho    Why in the world do they think they need a shotgun on a police bike to begin with? Oh yea wait. I remember now. The police officers out there are only allow to have what is it? 7 or 8 rounds in the hand gun magazines. That would be a good reason to need a shot gun back up.........how stupid of me to forget that....................

Next story,

Shotgun found after the suspect of three robberies had a shoot out with the police.

Bad location for a shotgun, both on the bike and south L.A.

Agreed...the next time they see this gun will most likely be at a crime scene.

What does it being on MLK blvd. have to do with the gun being lost/stolen? And do you really think a cop pulling in 50k+ a year is going to jeopardize that for the 250-300 street value of his weapon? I know its possible, but I'm inclined to give the benefit if the doubt to any officer unless more evidence than "it was in LA and on MLK blvd" can be had. As to the shotgun on a bike, that's standard for lots of departments. They need them on bikes for the same reason they need them in cars, when TSHTF you'll want more than a pistol. I'd issue them an SBR'd ar15 personally. Oh and Ca police are exempt from the magazine bans. I think I still have a few of my dads 92 mags for proof.
