Heard about this new handgun on the radio during my commute home today.  Anybody know anything about Edge Arms?  Their handgun offering has 4 barrels and is chambered in .32/.38/.380.

It seems to me there used to be a pistol made in the early 1900s that had the same 4 barrel concept but in a .22. Looks like they took the same idea and modernized it.

Kinda similar to the COP 357.

Edit: D'oh. Beat by Prag.

You got to get up pretty early to beat Prag!

I'm intrigued since it has a .38 option but not sure what niche it will fill. It looks like a full size "double Derringer". It's definitely single use with 4 shots and extreme slow reload.

What are the odds that all four barrels will fire to the same point of impact?

They could all probably hit the same side of the barn. Probably. :)

Hmmm... bigger, heavier, and more complex than an airweight J-frame... with one less of a less powerful cartridge....

What's not to like?   :pleased:

Yes...it is an ingenious solution to a nonexistent problem.

The COP,back in the day when most peace officers carried .357 revolvers, gave the option of a way too powerful backup gun for it's size. Read as flamethrower.

Short of shoving into a waiting receptacle...an orifice...an pulling the trigger one would have been hard pressed to do any precision shooting with the original.

But as a novelty? And a gun used in the Jerry Ahern survival books series? Interesting...the original I mean.

Just talked with them. They don't have a finished product just yet. But they are being manufactured right here in Gallatin...

I'm pleased to see a Tennessee made firearm and do look forward to hear someone's first hand experience with them. And of course wish the great success.

I wasn't dissing their product in my earlier posts and hope I didn't come across so.

Fun fact for ya...

The COP 357 was featured in a recent movie. 21 Jump Street. A hilarious movie if you're not offended by crass language.

Couldn't find the whole scene, but part of it is at the end of this clip.

If the new one is not too expensive I might get one in .32 as a novelty. Since it's made in TN. I'm guessing it won't be cheap though. Edited by Clod Stomper

I'm fond of weird but other than shooting through a jacket pocket I can't think of any reason to have one.  I appreciate simple but that mechanism would have to be proven to me.  I carry a Keltec .32 everyday for its size, but this thing looks kind of big.  I've owned a lot of small revolvers and somehow I can't imagine it is more reliable than S&W or Ruger.  Like the R51, I'm gonna wait on this one even if it is made here in TN.  However, if it shot .22LR, was really small and pretty inexpensive maybe....  Apparently a .22LR in this design is a booger to shoot.  If it needs a moon clip for .32 or .380, well...  Can't wait to see how it develops and hope those folks who are making it are successful.

I do like that it's made here in TN.

An integrally suppressed version would be a cool range toy.

Or assassin's weapon. "Hmmm, Watson. Based on bullet markings, the victim seems to have been shot with multiple weapons."

Heard about this on the radio too, glad to finally put eyes on it. I can't really see a need for something like this, but sure enough there are those that will want one.

I can't think of any advantages over any of the common carry pistols - a revolver, or small semi-auto.

Ok, I guess it does beat a derringer (if it proves to be reliable), . . . a little, . . . . although probably actually not as accurate.

Yes, my wife came in talking about having heard of this while listening to Phil Valentine yesterday. All she could remember was it had 4 barrels and she thought it shot 4 different "sizes" at the sametime.

Well, at least she listened to it. I showed her this thread and now she's interested. Thinks it's cute.

So...I guess I'll have to keep watching for it.

Uncle Phil is the greatest, isn't he? He'd make it as a comedian if the political commentator gig doesn't work out.

Yes, and he and Johnny B do some really great parody songs. Is Johnny still with him? I haven't listened to the show since I stopped being a road warrior some years back. Just seems that I never turn the radio on at home any more.

Yes, Johnny B is still there.

Back on topic... when I spoke with them, they said one of the bugs they were trying to get out is that right now, it has an 18lb pull to go off. Can't say as I blame them for wanting to lower that.
