Sorry. I've been multi-tasking on a few projects and didn't notice your post. The range is coming along just fine. We hosted a group of Pellissippi State Security Engineering students yesterday for a shoot and I'll be running a NRA Basic Pistol/TN Handgun Carry Permit class through there Sunday afternoon. Still don't have the cover completed on the firing points yet but that should be completed by middle of next week. Next month we are there. Rifle lanes cleared to 100 yds. Covered firing points with shooting tables. Well marked yd. markers. Dynamic steel targets on one range and paper on the other. Simulated barricades to shoot from behind. Plinking area for assasination of watermellons, softdrink cans, water bottles and milk jugs (sorry, no computer hard drives). Porta-John located close to range area. Campfire and grill area for dogs, burgers, chicken, etc.

Actually it's a closed private range. Available only to our students for classes and on special dates and times (presently scheduled as 1 Sunday a month from 1-5) when we are out there giving clinics for any former student. We'll also be scoring targets for postal matches and the NRA Marksmanship Qualification program on those Sundays. Of course we will also be using it for private instruction. I also will be booking special groups on the range such as the TGO E. TN Monthly Meet (as long as anyone wants to do that), a posse of SASS shooters, as well as several local law enforcement agencies.

The deal that I have with the land owner is that the range will only be open when one of our NRA certified RSO's is available to staff it. We have three and we all have paying jobs or in the case of my son, are at the university. That's why its limited access.
