So I was at my chiropractor today and asked him about the repercussions of carrying the way I do. I usually keep my gun about 5'o'clock, not quite middle of back but to my dominant side. It seems to provide the most concealability balanced with draw time, since I'm a small guy (5'10" 160) with a full size gun. According to him that, over time, can lead to problems. I'm just getting through injuries from a car wreck and wanting to not hinder my recovery, so I may take his advice and carry at 3'o'clock. According to him, right on the hip is best, then in the front, then in the MOB. So I wonder, how do other people carry?

I voted 4-5 o'clock but its really more like 3:30-4:30, closer to the hip or slightly back it depends on the ratio of time spent sitting compared to standing for that day.

i think you'll find the great majority carry at 4-5o'clock area...for the reasons you stated...hides well and decently quick access.

until your back is fully recovered (i know what your going through, happened to me in an auto wreck 2 years ago and i still have my bad days with my back) you may want to find a smallish pocket gun. it will help your heal time tremendously, especially if you spend a great portion of your day sitting. then when you are fully healed and go back to your normal carry, you will be in the habit of carrying your backup in your pocket :-)

I put 4-5, even though I don't carry IWB all that much. Usually it's front pocket carry for me.

If you have back trouble and don't have a huge gut (Like mine) try an appendix carry until you get better.

Go inside the pants and get a nice holster and you will be fine until you recover.

I voted 3 o'clock, but it's usually 3-3:30.

Well beings I wear overalls most of the time I have my little cannon stuck in the front bib pocket. Its pretty handy. I usually have a 9mm or an .40 S&W....i'm sure either one will get the job done pretty quick.

I carry in the 4-5:00 as well. I'm looking to get me an ankle holster for a BUG I have, but I'll still carry my primary in the current position

depending if its the glock 30, or the snubnose .38 either 6 o-clock for the glock, or 1-2 o-clock for the .38. I'm built weird, anyplace else and I may as well open carry.

Sometimes I carry at 4.20 just depends if I get a wild hair or not.

thanks. appendix carry was one option my doctor recommended, I may have to try it. smallish guy with slight gut, i think it'll work. but one thing is my shirts are usually flush with or near my from of pants area. I think the back conceals better since the shirt falls from the shoulder s over a concave back and it hides better afaik.
