Have you voted?  Did my duty today, whats up with all of the judges, it took for ever for me to go through them.  I bet there were 20!  You either keep em or boot'em out!  Not like other offices.

Like anyone has a clue as to what judges even do or why they should be kept or booted.

I had to vote to keep the judges.  If they are replaced, the replacements will be picked by the current leadership in Nashville.

Gosh was glad to see this thread cause I was getting ready to start one about it. The only Judges ads I have seen are the three Federal Judges and even though they are Democrats they have pretty much maintained a stable judicial system at the Federal level and this is the first time judges have ever been on a ballot I do believe. I also voted to keep them as I have found no fault in anything they have done to date. We don't really have many Federal issues that I hear about that are negative and they don't seem to be all that far left but are more middle of the road types I think. Hope I did right but voted the way I felt they have done their jobs. Maybe now that they know they could be placed on a ballot and removed and are Blue bloods in a Red Blood state it may just get them thinking if they don't get on the ballot that they need to stay on the road they have been on cause it kept them off the ballot screen............jmho

What are you talking about bersaguy?  Federal judges are not elected.

Ok my mistake..........lol  the state judges was what I meant. It was the first time I had ever seen judges on a ballot anyway. Are those the judges that were picked by Bredesen or before him? My memory sucks but I bet you already figured that out huh? I keep posti-note in business. I still voted no to changing them............Don't see any since in breaking what ain't broke.............. :hiding: :hiding: :hiding:

I have never voted early, like to get out with the everybody on the day to vote.

I know a few of the poll workers, talk to them about how many show, how they are doing.

I make a good time of it, thank everybody for their time, working or voting.

Voted today as well. Glad to get that out of the way. That way when the campaigning people either call or come by i can tell them "Already voted".

Now as far as local elections go, I swear the same people keep running again and again and it looks like we end up with the same old crap. Think maybe all politicians ought to have "term limits" to give the little guy a chance. As our forefathers intended for those representing us( yeah, right) to not be a career politician.

Thing was I couldn't vote anything other than Republican or Democrat. And in reality both parties STINK.

Since I think the way judges are "elected" is completely against the TN constitution, I always vote to replace. The system is corrupt and we need to shake up the status quo.

TN constitution calls for election of judges. The "TN plan" has a commission that gives the governor three names and he can select one or tell them to give him three more. Then after they serve, the citizens get to vote to retain or replace. How that can be considered "election of judges" is beyond my comprehension.

.... Are those the judges that were picked by Bredesen or before him?

Of the Supremes, Holder was via Sundquist, the others by Bredesen.

Too big a job on dialup to look up all the others.

I voted on Wednesday since I had the afternoon off.  Early voting is a win for me and I hope it never goes away.

If you haven't done so yet, get out there.  For those who think there may be some issues...registration needs to happen 30 days before an election, so if you moved counties, your out of luck for the current election. But if you moved and you're still in the same county, you have until five days before the election to get the change filed with your local county election commission.  I can help anybody that needs it find out where they need to be to make this happen, send me a PM if you require help.

Few excuses to not get out there and cast a ballot.

TN Supreme Court Judges are supposed to be elected not appointed so those people are screwing us all. Vote how ever you

want but I'm sure not voting for those bums. We need change and we need to start somewhere. Now is the time.

Not trying to hijack my own thread, but I did vote to remove the judges, state supreme court level.  First, my perception is, they are liberals, I don't like liberals, and if I can help remove with my vote, I will always try.  Second, I do desire Tennessee to be more like Texas when it comes to death penalty cases, meaning Texas appears to be running a production line following out the execution instructions, whereas Tennessee maybe executes once or twice a decade.  Why do I pay for these convicted PS to sit and rot, when a jury of their peers says they should die.

Clark, Lee, and Wade are the Justices to vote to replace. Might mention this as well, depending on which Metro district you are in but Pam Swoner appears to be the best choice for the McGavock district. At least she's stated that she does approve of Common Core, or better known as ObamaCore. http://ballotpedia.org/Pam_Swoner Edited by kieefer

If we used the same formula for "electing" all public servants as we do for these judges we'd be in more of a mess than we are now. This retain replace crap is the anthesis of term limits.

As it stands I'm voting against keeping any incumbent in my district.

Havent voted yet, not an early voting place convienent to me, but my regular polling place is only about 5 mins from the house, I'll wait.
I'll just be glad when this election cycle is over, so I will go back to getting 1/10th the mail I am getting now.

This is why I never donate money to any political parties. They will spend ten times what I donated either asking me for more money, or sending out stupid flyers.

Drove past the early voting spot in Oak Ridge this past weekend, and it was so littered with yard signs, it was beyond ridiculous. Some candidates put out dozens in a row side by side. Then their opponent put out dozens of their own. It was, quite frankly, an embarrassment, and an eyesore. I'll be glad when election season is over and all those signs come down.

Another rant: Sunday night, during the storm, we tried watching a show we like. Before it even got started, the local news broke in over the show and gave storm updates for thirty minutes. When the weatherman returned us to "regularly scheduled programming" they went into a 15 minute loop of local political ads, which was just enough time to get us caught up to the national commercials normally attached to the show. In the local commercial loop, I must have seen the same half dozen or so ads 5 or six times.

Agreed.  I try to be an informed voter, but that's really hard to do when there's very little information out there on any of the candidates save the big names.  Seems very odd to me that someone running for a public office doesn't create a simple website with some basic info on it.  Or maybe my google-fu is broken.  I'm leaning toward the whole "boot the incumbents" idea, but I'd really like to know who I'm voting in before I vote them out.  The next guy might be worse...

Other than voting for Carr, i have no clue who to vote for in this primary. Wish there was a way to find out more about the judges without months of research.

My ballot was full of "candidates" who are unopposed.  This is precisely why we need term limits, and why I voted to change the judges.  A politician who believes he won't be replaced won't be a "servant of the people."

Yep.

We try to vote in people who share our ideals about various topics of interest.  But it's very hard to find someone who agrees you on every significant issue.  I'll be honest and say I don't really care what the candidates personal opinions are on anything.  His/her personal opinion shouldn't matter in the slightest.  The majority opinion of the constituents is what matters.

I've read a number of times that various elected representatives stated something to the effect ..."I couldn't in good conscious vote for/against _____"  That's total BS.  I don't give a crap what your conscious says... that's not your job.  Your job is to do what the majority of your constituents tell you to.  Period.  If you can't do that you're not representing them anymore, you're representing yourself.  And when that happens, the only ethical thing to do is resign.  But when did ethics have anything to do with politics...?
