Buttplate material?

I rescued a badly abused 1894 Winchester in 30-30.  It is a post 64 model made in 1971.  

 

When I got it, it had a very badly fitted recoil pad.  I need a buttplate but there appear to be non available.  The buttplate is 4.7 inches high by 1.60 inches apart.  The screw holes are 2 7/8" apart. Every surplus or reproduction plate available has screw holes 3 1/2 inches apart and over 5 inches tall.  

What would be a good material to start with to fabricate my own buttplate?  Does anyone make blank plates?  

 

The buttstock has a slight cresent shaped curve to it.

Thanks guys, I have given up trying to find one for sale from a dealer.  My best hope is that someone has one in their junk box or has a suggestion of what material I can fashion one from.

 

Pacymyer has one for the AE that will cost almost $50 by the time it hits my door step.  I had rather have  cheaper stock to work with if I have to fashion one by hand with a sander and grinder.

Numerich is the bomb for parts like that, then ebay, and other places too.

If not, look around there, and you'll probably find the one that fits.

 

Before buying one, make sure the stock wasn't cut to accommodate the recoil pad. If it was, it isn't likely a buttplate will fit correctly without a lot of work.

I recently saw an old Remington bolt-action .22 with a homemade Plexiglass buttplate. It looked ok.

If you want a plastic butt plate, I'd try HDPE or PET.  Nylon, delrin, UHMW, or PTFE (teflon) might also work.

Bingo!  They have one that looks like it will work.  After the conversion in 64, Winchester shipped the 1894 30-30 with 4 different shaped and sized buttplates.
