The heirloom rifle

The rifle posted below was a build on the verge of completion that belonged to a dear friend of mine whom was only 22 and was killed recently in a motorcycle accident. I was going to make an offer to his wife for the rifle because I would keep it as a last piece of him and because she had no real interest in firearms. She actually asked if I would finish it for their 4 week old son to have when he came of age. I was shocked and was already a bit in tears so when she asked me this I looked one of those gals whom just got done watching the Notebook and was sobbing. Well this is it in its final form ready to be passed on from the father to the son. He always was a cheapskate so I upgraded what would be Magpul sights to Troys and got them a bolt carrier group, like I said, he didn't need much. I take pride in the fact that they asked me to do this and wouldn't hear of them paying for it, it's my last gift to him. asazu7av.jpg

I appreciate all the sentiments. His family deserves it far more than I, he left behind a three year old daughter, four week old son, and a loving wife whom has not yet still to come to grips with his passing and probably won't for some time. He actually had a pretty healthy collection of mags. I think mostly what he needed was ammo but I can take care of that for the most part. Thank you gents for stepping up to assist me, that's very kind of you and I appreciate it. I'm thinking that I'll more than likely equip it with my used Aimpoint Comp M2 that I have, it's not new by any means but I know that it works and that it'd be a great optic for that weapon.

Sorry to hear of your loss.  As it is a for a 4 week old son, It will be likely some time before he can use it.

I personally would suggest not using anything that requires batteries.
