The only reason i had asked was that, i saw a russian one on GB was was very cloudy on the finish, crappy looking starting out at $600. a few month ago. So far i have been getting est. of $500.+++, but i have no real idea, out of all my maks. to me it is the ugliest but i never sell any guns!

A good aquaintance who sells and collects maks. got a little upset at me for not telling him i had 1 of those, he acted like i had the holygrail of maks. he did not offer to buy it since he knows i never sell any guns.

Am ashamed to say, i dont know how to post pict. but the above link does give a lot of info and has pictures.

However the info and article are at least 7-8 yrs. old, i did read somewhere miltex went out of bus. in 2001 or so, due to lack of sales!

I really dont think it is worth all that much, you never know though, a used

E.German is almost $400.

Just curious, but at the same time i ordered also in 98 a nib Ars.black mak.

which i do love, it has a black park finish, which also i have never seen another like it! The only one i ever shoot is the russian one i also got in 98. You must know more than i can find out, since you said it was interesting! Thanks

I'd say $400 is definitely on the higher price end for a used East German. I will keep looking and let you know what I find out about yours.

Until then...

I didn't get upset, I was just surprised because I like the Miltex Maks. The auction asking prices are just that, asking, and I don't think it sold, at least not for that. A new-in-box Miltex would likely fetch about 4 bills on auction, give or take a few bucks. Used, about $325-$360.

Same with the EG's. If you look at gunbroker closed auctions, you'll note that where an actual sale took place (not an auction where the reserve wasn't met or there were no bids), the selling prices are usually $260-$310 or so. Rarely does an EG go higher unless it's just exceptional specimen, has an LSA marking, or has a waffencard-thingy. Since most all EGs were used, you don't see any "unissued" ones, only uneducated or unscrupulous sellers who want you to think theirs is in that condition.
