What to do with my third leg.....

So a good friend of mine, a bonifide war hero, who lost a leg downrange gave me his prostetic leg he had grown out of.  As honoring and cool as it is, I don't know what the hell to do with it.

 

I don't want it sitting in a corner or something collecting dust.  I was thinking of making a carrier and drink beer out of it or a lamp (think Christmas Story)  Not sure though.  Any ideas?

Those things are expensive as hell. I know they have to be custom fitted, but it may be possible to pass it onto another veteran and they be able to have it fitted. Someone here might know of an organization to donate it too that can make that happen.

I'm just speculating here.  Did he gain weight and it doesn't fit anymore?  He could lose that weight and fit it again.

That's a cool gift, btw.  It's a shame that he needed it, but you must be a good friend.  

 

As far a what to do with it in the meantime, I have no idea.  Mount it to a concrete slab and use it to launch water balloons on your neighbors?

I asked my buddy the same thing and he said that these are fitted to the individual and only for a certain amount of time due to the muscles atrophying.  It cant be reshaped.  But if anyone in the know knows different send them my way

The cup that fits the stump is custom, that part has to be fitted to the new stump.

As well as the length of the lower.

It is not reusable.

You could screw it to a block of wood and use it as a cold drink holder.

If you got a 2nd one, it looks like you could hang the two on a wall and make some sort of rack. Perhaps a gun rack?
