WTF 22s REALLY?

Either the gougers are growing tired or the planets were just all lined up right. I walked into Academy Sports in Mt Juliet the other day at around 11:00am to pick up some barbecue stuff. When I checked out at the register, I was surprized to see a stack of 50 count .22s sitting on the shelf.

"OMIGOD!" I exclaimed to the register girl who kind of looked at me funny. "Is there a limit on those?"

"Two."

I bought the two, CCI std velocity for $3.49 ea.

I did a quick count and there were more than 20 boxes still on the shelf when I walked out, no one around. I scanned the sky in the parking lot to make sure we hadn't been nuked and I missed the big SHTF or something. Didn't see any zombies either, so I drove my happy little self home ... 100 rounds richer :pleased:

I have been extremely lucky at the Knoxville location. my wife has sent me on a lot of Home Depot runs lately so because they are across the street from one another I stop in. I have picked up over 3000 rounds in the last 6 weeks. I have picked up 5 525 bulk packs and 10 50round packs. I have noticed standing in line will only get you 100 at a time. All the bulks I have gotten have been after 10am. I walked in one time as they were putting out some bulks at 11. I am going to have fun at the family shoot this year.

Hit my Academy around 5:30 today and got two boxes of Blazer grey box for $2.69 each. This week I got one Federal 525 rd box and those two Blazers. I'm happy. Mind you, these trips were all made AFTER my normal workday... not waiting outside for the store to open with the gougers.

I haven't looked for amy .22 during the last month as I have been working in Atlanta.  However now that I'm back in TN hopefully I'll find some reasonably priced ammo as well as time to shoot it.  I'm hoping the days of gouging walmart .22 are coming to an end.

I have been seeing it more and more in BBS's like Academy and Walmart. I think the gougers realized that they are going to get stuck with a  bunch of ammo or going to take a bath on it to sell it but they deserve it after the way they have acted over last couple years..................jmho

I hear that it's out there...but other than fighting the Gander Mountain opening some time back to get some, I've only bought(found) some twice in retail stores for the last year and a half.

Glad to see it getting more available. Maybe I'll find a few boxes/bricks to stash away for a rainy day.

I have bought 2-3k of .22LR over the last two years, just being patient and grabbing it when I see it. Cabelas has been the best bet for it lately.
