Winchester SXZ water jug shooting test.

I bought a couple of boxes of these a few weeks ago and since I have not been able to find much info as far as penetration or expansion I thought I would try the gallon jug shooting test. I shot this bullet thru 2 full gallon jugs and it did not exit the third jug, the expansion looks pretty good to me. I can now carry them with some faith as to their performance.

Cool. Seen this done using 3-4 water soaked phone books also, and yielded good results. This is something I've wanted to try (mainly for ****s and giggles), but never have. Doesn't really yield the same results as ballistic gelatin that the FBI uses for their tests, which you can order or find the recipe for, but it's a lot cheaper and easier to perform. :tough:

I've shot alot of dry phonebooks/paper. Its not perfect, but it'll give you some idea of what a bullet will do imo. Plus, you can pick up a stack of all kinds of useless real estate literture at kroger.

Yeah, ballistics gelatin is mad expensive. You can do it with the gelatin from the grocery store but it starts to deteriorate and fall apart rather quickly.
