XD Owners!

I own a stock 4" service XD45. I almost hate to admit it, but I shoot it better than my beloved West German made SIG P220. I've thought about finding an XD9 for cheaper shooting, but I'm afraid I'll find that I shoot it better than my even-more-beloved Browning Hi Power, and that's just wrong.

I'm a hugh fan of XD's :koolaid::up:. I have a sub-9, .40, a service .40 and .45., XDM. Out of those 5 guns I can honestly say I've never had a hiccup. I put over 6k rounds through the XD's. I've used more different types of ammo than I can remember. But I know I've run Rem. UMC, WWB, Federal, Winchester, Golden Saber, Wolf, JMF, Blazer Brass and I'm sure a couple others. I own many other guns that cost much more than the XD's. But the XD is my combat weapon, (nightstand gun and my store guns).

I have the XD9 service. I've only put about 750 rds thru it. I had one issue with FTE and that was me not centering the guide rod and spring. That was when I first got it. Been flawless since. I installed nite sights and a strainless steel Don's guide rod and 20 lb recoil spring. It was reccommended highly on XDtalk. Never figured out why exactly as the stock guide rod functioned fine. You'll enjoy the XD

So far I am pleasantly surprised with the crisp (factory) standard trigger pull on my XD 45. A couple of opinions from other experienced shooters with it validated my impression. Still looking for an excuse to upgrade the trigger guts, but no need so far!

The trigger is better than a Glock's, but CRISP? Make the East TGO shoot I'm sure I'll have something with a crisp trigger.

Calling a stiker fired handguns trigger crisp is like calling Double quarter pounder with cheese...healthy.

I was going to buy a Glock. I picked up the XD40 service and loved it, pointed good, fit my hand good. I have put a few thousand rounds through it, mostly Tennessee Reloads at the range and had one FTF. I tried 3 times to fire it, no luck, chunked it, went on with the another 75 or so. Wish I had some night sights. I have thought about getting another XD in the 9mm variety, probably would go with the XDm.

But the fries are the best part! The XDm is definitely a sexy gun, sometimes I wish I had gone with it instead but I am content. My next pistol will be a 1911 for sure.

grimel, look forward to meeting you and learning more re the XD line.

What's to learn? It's a Glock with the proper grip angle and a usable trigger. Everything with a crisp trigger I own is all steel.

I've got an XD with a crisp trigger, it's not 1911 crisp but its far better than a stock XD and it's light years ahead of a Glock.

Just as a reminder, I do carry an XD and love it. I don't own a 1911...yet.

Just my story. I hated my XD's trigger for about 750 rounds, after that it smoothed out and is actually quite nice. I have not done any trigger work to it. And actually my only problem or gripe, is that when it clicks to reset, there is a little slack coming back, I wouldn't mind getting rid of that, and then it would be real nice. I did shoot a Wilson Combat and well ummm, that trigger was swweeeeetttt.:P

XDm is suppose to be match grade: more capacity (16+1 in .40, 19+1 9mm)better barrel, better trigger, more aggressive grip, and you don't have to pull the trigger while stripping it down. Not that big of deal IMO because you have to lock the slide back on the regular XD before you can move the take down lever, but anyway, those are the main differences, I think I gotem all.

db99wj hit most of the highlights. I own an XDm in .40 and find it superior to XDs I have handled in terms of ergonomics and aesthetics. It also has a superior trigger to my usual carry gun (Glock 19 -but Glocks are not renowned for their triggers!) The main difference not noted is price -XDs are cheap with the m in town now. The increased capacity alone may be worth the price difference. I'm seeing somewhat improved accuracy as well, but nothing spectacular. Guns & Ammo had a review a few months back that went through the changes one by one.

Question: what is the basic difference between the XD and the XD(M) and which is better?

.... The increased capacity alone may be worth the price difference. ,,,.

(re: XD-M)

I don't really get that, though. In 9mm, it's 19+1 only 3 rounds more than normal 16+1 of regular XD, including even my XD Sub Compact w/the long mag.

I'd consider a price premium if going from say 7 to 10 rounds or somesuch but 17-20 round diff seems negligible to moi.

I have an XD9 with the 4" barrel.

I usually shoot Winchester white box or Blazer. Below is a link to where I generally buy ammo from. It's a lot cheaper than what I can find locally, I just stock up every once in a while so I always have enough on hand.

BTW, if you think WWB is dirty you should try Sellier & Bellot. That stuff was filthy, and it took me about 4 hours to get my barrel clean!!!!

8.99/50 for 9mm Blazer Brass is normal price at WalMart in Knoxville last couple months.

Plus tax, but without the shipping.

I bought UMC 9mm for 7.99/50 the other day (case of 10 price).

edit: just re-read your info. You're in CA now?

If so, I guess it's no wonder you have to buy online.

Do you carry your XD? How do you like it as a carry weapon?
