Who anneals here?

I just got a new Giraurd annealer, and like it so far. Just curious who else anneals.

Left is annealed. I use Tempilaq paint to get the heat set right, and it works perfect.

I have to because I resize .30-06 to 6.5-06 all the time. I do it the old fashioned way, a battery powered drill, a deep socket and a torch.

It's not perfect but no neck cracks or splits.

Never have but have read up on it. I'm only loading .223 and 30-06 and brass is easy to come by so I don't have a need to anneal.

I don't feel like buying more 223 brass if I don't need to. I have about 10,000 pieces sitting here, and a lot loaded as well. I see no reason to not stretch the life of the brass out 2-3 times the life it gets if its not annealed. At about $70 per 1,000 that adds up fast when you have to keep getting more and cycle through it. Just an unneeded expense to reloading. I figure this annealer will pay for itself by extending my brass life, and also help me with my match grade ammo. Figure it was worth the money.

I've been pondering buying the same annealer. Glad to hear good feedback from someone who has actually tried it.

not me i just reload them and shoot on.  knew some guys that did but never seen the reason why.  even when i was shooting matches each week and reload like a fool.  but i guest that brass cost more these days.

Oh he's already texting and asking for a full review. haha.

Most this brass sitting here is going to Blaise or my neighbors so I've been trying to crank out as much as I can. It's kind of slow, but that doesn't bother me. I've done about 2-3 thousand so far. You know he's got one on order right??? Don't tell his wife! hahaha

I'm hoping it'll improve my F/TR scores a litttttle bit at least making my ammo just that much more consistent. This is my first time annealing, and have yet to bring ammo to the range and compare side by side if I notice a difference.

I've done that at the 1,000 yard range and really cant tell a difference. Not sure you would at 1,000? The wind is the largest factor. I only do it because, I use Lapua brass for my F/TR loads and want to use them as much as possible.

Hell, as long as it extends my brass life I'll be happy as well. Even if it doesn't improve my groupings. I have a lot of time invested in my brass, turning necks on 1,000 pieces, chamfering flash holes and reaming primer pockets.

You know, I even saved his brass for the last f/tr so I could match prep it for him and give it back hoping it would perseade him to load it... Heck, the hard work is done... Edited by 173rdABN

draging up an old post but would like to know how it is going with that annealer?  I have been thinking about trying to rig something up just due to cost so that I can get extendid life out of my 300blk brass.  I am cutting my own out of 223 and would like to ba ble to keep it around for as long as I can.  Thanks for all who chime in.

I love it. I anneal everything. Its just so easy to use I see no reason to not anneal all the time. Not like it hurts anything. It's given me zero troubles. And for those that know the volume of reloading I do, I'd say thats a good thing. Haha. It's well worth the money and I have no regrets over it. It's also the only one I know of that you dont need to feed it while its working, and it feeds itself. That was my selling point, for sure.

Added note:

I anneal my 300/221 cases and it works perfect for that. You'd never regret it.
