gonna rant a bit here (I apologize in advance)...

 

It kinda ticks me off when I see the rank and file civilian population waving the flag or hear them taking up the USA chant, but can't even begin to articulate how our government works, or the general provisions outlined in our Charters of Freedom. Even something as basic as the Bill of Rights, no-one that I've talked to can list off more than perhaps 3-4 of the 10 amendments without digging. How do you assert rights/defend something you can't even articulate? I'm not talking verbatim obviously, but just a general explaination of what each amendment covers.

 

Kudos BTW to the Declaration of Independence post I saw a few minutes ago. The provisions are pertinent, relevant, and still matter.
