Recent business travels took to me to the Bristols (TN and VA)

Under construction is a Bass Pro in Bristol TN and Cabela's @ Exit 5 in VA.

Based on my limited experience, Cabela's smokes Bass Pro. I'm comparing the Nashville Bass Pro with the St. Louis Cabela's.

Is that the one in Opry Mills mall? If so that Bass Pro has much to be desired. Although it is conveniently close the Pepper Palace store :) Anyway, you guys have so many awesome gun stores. Why bother with the big box guys? Most of my LGS have much better prices than cabelas. They price their items high so they can have sales (that equal LGS price). Only reason I shop there at all is  because I get free money with my cabelas card. Get one of those if you don't already have one BTW. Its a visa rewards card.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Cabella's (online) and have always been more than satisfied with both the quality and the price.  Unfortunately, if this new store is in Tennessee than I guess they will start charging me TN sales tax! ;(

I am rather fond of Cabelas, and have and do a lot of business with them. Their retail locations are nice. It is similar to BP, but more focus on hunting than fishing.

Stopped at the Cabelas in Milwaukee, WI during my last visit. Their firearm selection beat bass pro and Gander Mountain hands down. They had everything from inexpensive keltecs to $12,000 Accuracy International bolt action rifles. They had a great selection of ammo and accessories. Can't remember about their reloading supplies though. They did carry a really good selection of optics, even some of the high end hi-power scopes. Can't wait for them to open here, just wish they were inside the TN state lines.

I've yet to see a LGS have really good vacuum packing machines, or slicers, or a ton of good jerky spices... Or the 10,000 other things that Cabelas has that a LGS doesn't carry.

I drove right past it on I-65 on Father's Day, so easy to find. My FIL thinks their the greatest, but I've never been in one.

If the Pepper Palace ever closes, Bass Pro will rarely see my face. I like looking around, but they don't warrant a trip to the mall all by themselves. The Pepper Palace, on the other hand, is worth the trip!!!
