Grease, oil, or dry?

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a Hungarian surplus pistol and of course it was filled with cosmoline.  I have completely disassembled it and cleaned all the gunk out and was ready to put it back together.  Then I realized I don't know what parts need to be greased, lubed or just left dry when I put it back together.  Most search results focused on oil vs grease for the rails and you guys are generally a better source of info anyway so I thought I'd ask for your assistance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Light oil on things that rotate and grease on things that slide will get you a long way in life - and will certainly extend the service life of your weapon.
