Browning 9mm Hi-Power

Thoughts? What would be a good price for a 1960 Belgium made model in two tone stainless Blued slide.
I would be shooting it once in a while but mainly want to pass it on to my son someday. Would it be a good investment as it appears to be in excellent condition.

I question a Hi Power of that vintage being two tone.  I question any pistol being two tone as a matter of fact.  Regardless, Hi Powers are classics.  If it's been refinished then the "investement" part of owning and passing it on is diminished.

They have always been high dollar guns. So $700-$1000

Thank you just checked the numbers fall in line with 1960 sequence so how is is it possible for it to be two tone either nickel or stainless with a blued slide?

I'm no collector, but I'd consider $650 a great price for a BHP from that era, provided it's in good condition function and appearance-wise. I've seen pristine early model BHP priced upwards of a grand.

Pieced together gun most likely. If it functions, should be a great shooter. You said you like the way it feels already, so you've got half the battle over.

 

Now worth? That's always an issue. But personally, with the questions on this particular gun, I would not pay that price for it.

That means it was a 9mm assembled in 1981

I think I may have figured it out could it be a Practiacl model? from the picutures on the web it appears to be a mirror image just not sure what dates they were made?  If they were introduced in 1991 it still would not be possible i rember the slid saying some thing about Utah and made in Belgium

Browning is the importer hence Utah. FN is the manufacturer in Belgium. If it is a Practical it was made later and has adjustable rear sight. Does it have the factory box? Do you know the color of it?

No box It has a novac two dot rear site that are quite faded it does not appear to be adjustable?  The date is what is really puzzling me because it seems that it has been cleared up that it was made in 1981 Hmmm?

My bad on the rear sight. It seems it did come with fixed sights. It looks like your was sent of for sights and finishing.

One of mine has a rare alloy frame, sending it off for re finishing to hard chrome.

The Practical was introduced in 1991. I stated this earlier. If it's a 1980, it's NOT a factory Practical.
