The guys over on M4C, whom by and large tend to be professionals, say that none of them are worth a rip and all cause problems with mag ejection. They tend to favor the "RediMag" product that clamps onto the side of the lower receiver at the mag-well.

I just have to go on what those guys are saying. Quite a few of them work as PSCs in Iraq and claim that even taping them together causes unbalance issues that sometimes make the mag snag up rather than drop freely. Not sure how dependent that is on the perfect conditions, high tide, phase of the moon, direction of the wind, etc. It just seems that every time it gets brought up the general consensus is that joining mags together isn't as preferred as using the Redimag or just carrying mags on your person.

Maybe Joe will chip in here. I'm sure he's toted his share of spare mags before.

David, thanks. Found this RediMag Link on Wilson Combat from your rec and couldn't get the RediMag page to load.

Will do my research and let you know what I find.

The Redi-Mod, sold by Blue Force Gear, is the newer generation design than the one linked in your above post.

You'll notice it's been put on a strict diet, compared to the original model. It also functions a little different than the previous model, as it does not drop both the empty magazine in the weapon and the spare magazine free when you push the release switch. With the new design, you must drop the empty magazine (as you normally would) and then release the spare magazine with it's button. Some people like this change, some don't. Some say it's just as quick, or quicker, than the old style. It's been said that the design change was due to malfunction drills and the need for independent releases. Either way, regardless of the reason, the newer style is a lot less weight (which matters when you have a full magazine strapped to the side of your gun -- something to consider in itself) than the older design.

You'll find a lot of info on the designs, and comparison of each generation, over on the M4C forums. That's where I picked up all of my info on them, when I was debating whether or not I wanted to buy one.

Hope that helps.

In case you didn't catch the attempt at humor...I agree with Joe. Coupling should be done with the Misses, not your mags.

Thanks everyone. Deleted that one from memory!

I will buy pouches and train instead. ;)
