22lr bucket o bullets.

Had a strange thing happen today at the range.

My wife and I were shooting our normal routine, me 38spl, wife 9mm and then after about 100 rounds we change to shooting our Ruger 22/45's.

We were going through our normal contest and for the first time I was winning until I shot a round that sounded funny. I stopped shooting unloaded thinking after 40+ years I had my first squib. Wife asked where I got the snake shot. Problem is I don't have any. She said the last round I fired looked like buckshot. I then pulled in the target and sure enough it looked like snake shot. Check the gun barrel and all looked fine. Got home and field stripped gun is fine.

Has anyone else ever had a hollow point 22lr bullet splatter after leaving the barrel?

This is a first for me. Edited by joe45

Haven't had it happen, but there could have been bubbles in the lead when the bullet was molded... Would be spectacular I imagine. Just snake the barrel for fragments and keep shooting.

Yes that stuff, Remington golden bullets. I know they are basically garbage, but the way it is today any 22lr is better than nothing. Like I said weird. Edited by joe45
