Just a heads up. Grabagun has them available at a great price. $5.99 shipping.

 

You can look at that a couple of ways. You could get one for $625 before Sandy Hook, and those had the great 5R 1:8 barrel.

 

Now a year and a half later, with just a more average barrel, I guess that's still a significant drop but not as drastic as if it still had that primo barrel

 

And what with AR prices bottoming out lower almost by the day, too.  Of course, 6 bills or less is a fine price for a dependable AR all in one piece under warranty, but S$W is no longer nearly alone in offering that, and there's still no dust cover or forward assist for folks who see that as a must and can get it for close to that price.

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's certainly a fine deal to be considered, and the S&W craftsmanship and rep is nothing to sneeze at. And certainly for folks who don't really keep up with who's who in the AR manufacturing world, it removes any doubt.

 

I've got a Sport stashed myself. Near as I can tell, it's my most accurate AR, but again it had that barrel on it that they don't now.
