Skip Stewart out of Memphis!  - this photo belies the fact that he stuck amazing maneuvers absolutely at ground level.  My mouth was hanging open too far for me to effectively wield a camera.

And does anyone know if there are any aerial aerobatic schools operating within a 3-hour drive of middle TN? We used to have Warbird Skyventures but I think Gina shut the business down after a controversial accident collision in Texas, and that is something I always wanted to do - pilot an AT6 or similar through gut-wrenching aerobatics until I passed out or the instructor had to takeover to prevent ground impact. I have gone on a few rides at various flight schools but they don't offer the high-G aerobatics.

Wileecoyote,

Steve Johnson at Tune Airport in Nashville has an MX2 he flies and teaches with.  You can get information from his website... www.stuntplane.com

There is a young woman (Catherine) down at the Sewanee Airport who also teaches aerobatics.  She currently runs the school that was previously run by Bill Kershner; most pilots should recognize that name.  Her website is www.aceaerobaticschool.com.

I'm planning to get with Steve in Sep or Oct and get a ride and make that my birthday present to myself.

It would be interesting to fly aerobatics out of the Sewanee airport with all the wind there.

P-51 on bottom? Nose looks a little different. 4 props, thick straight wings, bubble canopy. Is this a scaled down replica?

I think the P-51D has 4 blades instead of 3?

FYI: It is a full scale authentic P-51. - though it has the cleanest sheet metal I've ever seen on a P-51. Original owner collected parts for years - fab'd all parts he thought needed improvement and was a master sheet-metal craftsman.

He passed away last year. His son flies the plane (he earned his P-51 type rating at 20yrs old! Apparently, no original P-51 made during wartime has the tight tolerances, fit and finish of this plane.

Excellent information gentlemen.

I built 2 Models of the P-51 in my early youth. The 4 bladed Prop always indicated the superior  amount of power that engine could produce over predecessors and ME-109s and Focke-Wulfs.

How many cylinders was the Merlin engine?
