What's the best IWB holster for a Shield?

Recommended Posts

I just bought an M&P Shield 9mm and I'm wanting to get an IWB holster but don't really know which is best. I have to wear my shirt tucked in so I don't even know if it's possible. Thanks for any and all advice

Well I think it's obvious but you will need a tuckable holster. There are probably 30 different makers of hybrid holsters. Check out crossbreed, alien gear, white hat, or kholster just to name a few.

Ever try a Sticky brand holster? It can be carried as a pocket holster as well, but is primarily for inside the pants use. It is very comfortable to me.

HARD to beat a leather/kydex hybrid holster on comfort and concealability...IMPOSSIBLE to beat Alien Gear on quality for the money

I need an IWB for a Shield also. I need leather though; I sometimes need to leave it in the car and my last Kydex melted.

I’m looking for something leather with a clip that can rotate so I can appendix carry.

Picking the proper holster is about as difficult as picking the best handgun.  I've got a collection of both guns and holsters.

No kidding? You sure it was real Kydex? The thinnest kydex (0.06") that most hybrid holster bodies are made of need to reach 330-350 to be formed. The thicker stuff, like they make belt clips from needs to be closer to 400 degrees. I've been able to do less detailed shapes as low as 300 degrees, but I have to force it to bend at that temp. Yes it was Kydex. It was a Crossbreed Supertuck. I was selling it because the sound and feel of a gun dragging across Kydex is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I had it sold and was meeting someone after work that wanted it. I left it in my car and it melted. It melted the holster and the belt clips. Crossbreed handled it right though; they told me to send it in for repairs and they sent me a brand new one in just a few days.

Gun holsters should be leather. I bought a D.M. Bullard to replace it. Costs more; but I can leave it in the car if I need to. biggrin.gif

I keep saying I am going to learn how to work with leather and make my own, but I just don’t have the time.

Thank y'all ! I'll get on here and check some of the ones out that you mentioned. I'm thinking leather also

+1 for Crossbreed in horse hide for strong side carry. I'd also add the INCOG to your list of options, especially for the flexibility to carry in the appendix position.

Dont laugh but I bought 3 ACE case holsters for 33:00. The IWB for the shield is tuckable and works great. Also bought a tuckable for my 2 in snubbie. They are leather. Not as thick and stiff as sat GALCO but they work great.

Right now in various carts started: I have a CB Supertuck, the "shebang" http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GU53VFK/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&smid=AO4HD803GPOGJ, DeSantis Die hard Ankle http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0086VZ7GC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER And a friend makes custom leather holsters at https://www.facebook.com/groups/555090097854863/permalink/657926784237860/ I am really leaning towards having Kris make one but am concerned it being my first holster that I won't know if something is amiss. Like if the leather becomes worn or I am doing something wrong. As to using the name brand stuff there is so much info out there. I hope that makes sense. I'm not distrusting his product in the least! I just want to be clear, I am so new I am doubting my own abilities. Well I can't get the link to work to the friends page so: ena8amej.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have worn crossbreed's for two different carry pistols and they do a fantastic job.  That being said, I would have tried the INCOG on my latest one if they offered it for my latest CC.

I got my first Crossbreed for an XDS a few months ago and liked it.  I now have Crossbreed holsters for my 1911 and P938.

Love the simplicity. Love the fit and finish
Very happy

Alien gear has my curiosity however

I've got a PJ for my G26. Tried a Cooks Holster for the 23 that I prefer a little over the PJ. I think it's the J hook on the smaller one I don't care for but didn't want the 6 week turnaround to get it adjusted.
