Question about shooting on my own property

Where can I find the rules or regulations about shooing on my owm property? Property is in Hamilton County. The lot is 6.5 acres, narrow but deep and backs up to the bottom side of a cliff so there is no one behind me. Basically just looking to plink with a .22.

when I decided to shoot on my land I knew that it was not illegal to discharge a firearm in the county.  But I called the KCSD to find out particulars.  They never once told me to rethink it, just told me to not shoot towards buildings or places where people might be. 

 

Remember you own the bullet no matter where it ends up.

It will be a while. I am still stuck in Maryland but ground breaking for my house has started.

The sound of gunfire is as common around here as the smell of honeysuckle. We are a different world than Maryland.

Your biggest issue is likely to be noise complaints from the neighbors.

there is gunfire around here constantly.  Of course most of it comes from the sheriff's training center which is nearby.

 

really the only gripe that could stick is disturbing the peace or some noise law.  I shoot at reasonable hours and try to be very considerate of people that live around me.  Though none of them are downrange.

 

You might want to have your contractor pile the dirt they displace while building your home's foundation  and driveway at the base of the cliff you will be using as a backstop.

Yeah, I looked 'Nooga ords up in the past, was quite surprised. Hell, we can't even legally shoot an air rifle in Knoxville.

Thanks for all the responses. I will plan on being considerate. I don't want to be "That" neighbor. Most likely it will all be surpressed .22 fire.

Chattanooga considers 600 ft to be neighbor. Beyond that they can't even file a noise complaint Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

What Mike said, use the dirt you're moving anyway to build a berm. We're going to use some of the dirt we're getting from our pond with railroad ties as a back wall. If you're not in city limits, and you're shooting in a safe direction with good backstop, bang away. 99.9% of Tennesseans outside city limits won't blink twice hearing distant gunfire

Nashville gets to have 2 sets of rules. One for the "urban services" district and one for the "general services" district. It's a holdover from the early days of becoming a municipal government. No shooting of any kind in the urban services district, but just no night shooting in the general services district.
