Which handgun platform do you like and why? (1911 not included)

I'm actually liking my Sig P250 now. I plan on getting one of the new striker fired models in the future and will have to pick up a P226 or P229. I never thought I'd get bit by the sig bug but it has happened. 

And when it does look out! when ya get bit by the sig bug, whats in youre wallet becomes a serious issue! LOL

I've never been happier than to recover from that bug. At least now I own things I can shoot well.

Did you have trouble with the DA to SA or just couldn't shoot well with it period? I used to own a CZ75 PCR that I absolutely loved but got rid of ( :rant: ). After doing some trigger work I loved it!

Glock.

 

They cover just about all the caliber and size ranges, manual of arms is the same across the board, and (if left stock) triggers will all be about the same. In other words, aside from varying recoil impulses and variation in grip sizes, if you can shoot one you can probably shoot them all.

Got to go with my first love, S&W revolvers. The first gun I ever owned was a used S&W Highway Patrol model 28 with 6" barrel. Pure pleasure to shoot. The combination of wood and blued metal just looked sexy, and felt right in my hands. Not to mention the weight of the gun made even hot .357 magnum reloads easy to shoot. I loved the sound of the gun and the flash of the ball of fire every time I pulled the trigger. I kept it for many years, even using it as my carry gun when I worked for the Sheriff's department. I sold the Smith in order to buy my first Glock 17. Half the weight, and just as many rounds in one magazine and in the tube as I could carry in my Smith plus two speed loaders. Now as I get older, and hopefully a little wiser, I still appreciate the utility of the Glock, but I would love to find another old model 28. Would make a great range gun/ BBQ gun/night stand companion. I would not hesitate to use it for a CCW given the right holster. :)

Both. The transition just seemed pointless to me, when there are so many fine firearms that don't have it. How did the good Colonel put it? DA/SA is a solution for which there is no problem, or something like that?

I like both 1911s and Glocks primarily... Sig is a close second.

Beretta and the XD and the M&P come in third.

I wanted to like H&K and Walther, but they feel wonky to me.

Yep. Definitely a Good K-frame in the top 2. But...for all round comfort to hold and shoot, it's gotta be a....

The Glock has always felt good in my hands.  I shoot Glocks competitively and I can get a good solid grip on the gun.

Both. The transition just seemed pointless to me, when there are so many fine firearms that don't have it. How did the good Colonel put it? DA/SA is a solution for which there is no problem, or something like that?

 

Maybe it's because I'm really just a low end shooter, but I never really had any problems with DA/SA guns. Just a matter of a hammer cock to me. I know, perhaps if I were a LEO, or was dependant on my firearm for something other than what I mostly use them for...I might feel differently about it.

 

Maybe that's why I'm being more and more drawn to the 1911 lately. Seems I shoot them and some of my wheelie Smiths most often.

Haven't used any hk, xd, walther, sig, hipower. Mebbe would like em if I had one. I like most fine. Am partial to metal pistols, but like my kahr p9 fine. Like the glock 17 ok. None i'd consider selling unless got hard up.

 

I take a couple of 357 revolvers to the range fairly often. I like cz 75 platform but for some reason they dont quite fit my hand, but wouldn't sell the cz85. Like the ruger mark 2 slabside. Am real partial to beretta 92 and cougar, and maybe shoot those pistols best other than 1911.

 

I like .22 adapters on fullsize pistols, have .22 adapters for the 92, cz, and 1911.

My MK9 isn't too far behind and I have a special place in my heart for my pair of SP101 s

I'm going to have to go with the wheel gun. The grip on a wheel gun does not have to accommodate a magazine so it can be made to fit the hand better. If I had to choose a semi-auto it would be the CZ-75 series.

FNH FNX series, me personally is the FNX-9 but I wouldn't mind the FNX-45... The FNX series is VERY accurate and simulates an H&K USP controls only better due to being ambi however I like the H&K controls themselves better(the slide catch/release feels more positive, safety feels the same, and mag release feels better on the H&K too) but overall versatility wins the day for me allowing a righty or a lefty to handle it, not to mention a MUCH cheaper price tag comparatively.
