New here. Was trying to post a picture and when I clicked on the image icon it asked for a URL. I have the pictures saved to my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Was gonna post a picture of and old .32 revolver I got from my great uncle. It has Spain stamped on the frame with a few other markings and a series of numbers on the butt of the grip. I have no idea who the maker is or how old the pistol is.

Welcome to the forum.

To post a picture, you need to save the photos on an online photo sharing/storing site like flikr or photobucket. Then you can copy and paste the url code in your post.

Several Spanish companies made scads of poor to mediocre quality copies of Smith and Wesson and Colt revolvers. I'm not sure how much these have been studied, but I don't know of a good source of information on them.

That's an old Euskaro .32S&W break top.

Thanks for the help. Is it a cheap copy, significant it any ways?

The term may refer to any of several Basque manufacturers who copied S&W and Colt designs as Greg mentioned above.

None of them were known for their quality.

Note that the .32S&W was originally a low powered black powder cartridge intended for close distances.  I'd definitely have someone check it out before you shoot it.

I got this from my dad back around 1988 when his uncle my  great uncle passed away. My  dad and me bought some rounds and for the safe of a Redneck I stood behind a tree with face and body shielded and fired the pistol. Since the I have only fired it about 10 times. For the sake of saying anybody got a estimated valve on it. Also I wish their were a way of identifying a year it was made. I thought the numbers on the butt of the handle would give some clue but I'm in the dark on this one. I assume the first two numbers 32 represent the caliber but beyond that I'm at a loss. With all the copies made back then I may never be able to put and exact date on it. I'm gonna keep digging but thanks for the help thus far....Ricky

The value to this pistol is going to be entirely sentimental.

They were made anywhere from the 1880's on up through the Spanish Civil War.  So many companies copied these pistols that I doubt there's a way to authoritatively date it, but maybe someone else has a better guide.

Mine is pretty tight also. Story is my uncle would get a load of watermelons and head to the shady side of town to sell them. He told my dad he'd have that .32 in his overalls in case he tried to get robbed.

If these guys don't know, it probably ain't known.

Please don't think I was belittling your revolver in my earlier post. It is special in that it is a family heirloom. I was trying to give as accurate an answer to your question as I could. My wife says I should work on my tact a bit. She's probably right.....ah hell, she's always right. :)

Lol, no problem. I had did  a lil research a few years back and knew there were many cheap copies made. I had just put it on the shelf and we had a new hire friend I met at work who is avid gun collector and my .32 came up and it kinda got me interested again. Don't worry this old Marine is rough around the edges too. My offense taken. I will try the site out and see what they come up with....thanks...Ricky
