Sorry it didn't work for you, but the right job is out there for you.  I lost out on a job I thought was made for me a few years ago, only to find a better job than I had imagined very shortly afterward.

Neil, I was sure hoping that one worked out. 

 

But, you are fortunate to find out definitively, and in a short time frame. 

 

Since I have been job searching I have had a number of excellent interviews where I got "we will be in touch very soon" and never heard another thing (even when contact-by dates were promised).

 

A positive experience in your case, I think.  Perhaps they will have future openings...your strong presentation this week will be useful to bring up on the next one.
