So I was talking to my brother-in-law, who happends to be a student at Belmont. He was home this week, so I figured classes were cancelled. No big surprise, until I asked him about it.

To paraphrase Buford T. Justice, cancelling classes is baby [poop] next to what they've done up there.

Seems they have the entire campus fenced off. Students were told that if they did not leave campus by Monday, they would not be permitted to leave the campus until Thursday. Only in the case of extreme emergency would one be allowed to leave, and then only with a Secret Service escort.

So that's why he's home this week. I'd definitely do the same if I were him.

I can see cutting off access to the campus for a few days. I'm not getting the part about not permitting anyone to leave, though. If we're talking about leaving and then returning, then I get that. Maybe I misunderstood.

Oh, and he says there have been lots of men in their 30s walking around campuses wearing tucked-in polos and carrying backpacks over the past week or so, in an apparently vain attempt to look like students. I wonder what they had in those backpacks?

It's unreasonable to 'lock down' the campus.
