After years of waiting, a compromise was reached.

I always wanted a true HK G3, but is been always out of my price range. I finally went and got a PTR, only thing I dont like about it its the paratrooper model, so it has a 16" barrel vs a normal 18" barrel. But now I have two battle rifles with only the M14 left on the to do list.  I am already dreading the ammo prices. But I am so happy!

I would consider that a placeholder, not a compromise.

Thats what I thought too, but considering how often I go shooting and the fact that the PRT and the HK G3 series rifles are so close when it comes to quality, I might just buy a surplus G3 parts kit later on and then swap out the parts. One thing that made me chuckle is the color scheme. Same as my C93. And they both have the carry handle. And its also a pain to remove. On, and I dont think that collapsible stock is for me. Gonna get a normal one soon.

Congratulations on reaching a goal.

And I agree about the stock. lol

yeah, a goal six years in the making. Always had a feeling that if i bought one, it wouldn't be the same. Feels that way for some odd reason.

That is a nice compromise. It's pretty slick looking even if that stock is as uncomfortable as it looks.

Its not all that uncomfortable, as much as it requires a good deal of adjusting to get used to

I never liked the wooded look, so I went in a found a polymer stock for it. All I have left to buy is a front tac rail and a top rail so I can mount a scope. This is gonna be a fun rifle. And HK parts has complete G3 parts kit minus the receiver. So I might just pick one up and turn it into a 80% G3. Everything will be german minus the receiver.
